How To: Acid Wash Nails

I've been seeing Acid Wash nails all over Pinterest  lately and I have been wanting to try it out but I had to wait until I had the perfect two colors. I didn't want to be like everyone else with the oh so boring blue and white, I wanted to spice it up for you ladies for this tutorial.

About a week ago I ordered the Mystery Box from Julep Maven check out my review HERE and when I received it today I was over the moon excited because there was a color in there called *Amy* and I knew she was perfect to pair with one of my favorite Julep polishes *Blake* that I received in my April box for the exact acid wash look that I wanted.

Let's get started with the tutorial, it's so super easy and can be achieved in as little as 5 steps. The whole process took me about 40 minutes (only because of the drying time).

How To: Acid Wash Nails

Step One: Pick a base color and paint on two coats as if you were doing a regular manicure (I chose Julep *Blake*). Allow to dry completely (10-12 minutes).

Step Two: Pick your second color and apply one coat over your base. Allow to dry completely (I dipped my fingers in ice water after about 5 minutes to dry them quicker and get rid of the stickiness) and be patient because it won't work if the nails are not completely dry.

Step Three: Grab some Qtips and Nail Polish remover (preferably with acetone).

Step Four: Dip the Qtip into the remover and gently rub along your nail (I used two Qtips per nail because they collect the color so you want to make sure it's fresh and not getting clumpy).

Step Five: Top with any clear coat (I used Julep Top Coat)

At the end you should be left with a gorgeous Acid Washed manicure, which I am absolutely loving!! I can't wait to try it out with some more colors. It was so much fun!
