June 2012 Birchbox

June 2012 Birchbox

I'm wanna say that I'm really not all that *thrilled* with this months Birchbox but that's a lie, I love all of the products, I'm really just angry about the Luna Bar so I am going to review it all honestly and not let this piece of granola cloud my judgement. I watched the sneak peak videos and I got really excited for the possibilities and low and behold I got three of the things I actually wanted which was super since last month was a disaster. My profile must be listed strange because I have no clue how I keep ending up with food. I know that the "Lifestyle Extra" is just that an extra, I'm not actually paying for it but I really would have rather it not been food.

The theme for this month is "Jet Set" and again for the second month in a row, I have no clue what my products have to do with the theme but I at least enjoy them this time around!

Part of this months note "This month's box is devoted to products that will indulge your inner jetsetter, from hardy formulas that can last throughout a long-haul flight to imported finds that we've picked up on our global adventures. For starters, we're introducing you to one of our carry-on staples: an ultra-flattering stain for cheeks and lips."

What's Inside:

BORGHESE BATH SOAK

I'm definitely a little excited to try these, I love all kinds of bath products so this should be no different, I hope.

"Pour these mineral-rich crystals into your bath to make believe you're at a chichi spa retreat. They also  help soothe dry skin and tired muscles." Well I have no clue what a "chichi spa retreat is but I have tired muscles so I'll try anything.

Full Size: $35 (This is not a full size item so it's worth $3.50)

EYEKO FAT EYE STICK

Now this I am super excited for! I have been since the sneak peek video! It's a gorgeous creamy eye stick and glides on so smooth! I'm glad I got this color because there are so many different ways I can use it!

"A Birchbox exclusive, this UK brand's too-cool shadow stick combines creamy color and long last wear." I can't wait to use it for my next smokey eye!

Full Size: $15 (This product was full sized)

THEBALM COSMETICS STAINIAC IN BEAUTY QUEEN

This is the second product that I kept saying if I didn't get I would cry. I have been wanting to try this out for weeks! It's such a gorgeous color and I love stains, especially ones that can go on the cheek.

"We're crazy about the two-in-one lip and cheek stain: the sheer gel formula delivers a subtle, long-wearing flush."

Full Size: $17 (Another full size product woot! woot!)

YU-BE MOSITURIZING SKIN CREAM

I've never heard of this in my life. Have you? It does say it's a best seller from Japan so it's gotta be good right? Unfortunately, I don't know if I'll be able to give this an honest review because do you see that teeny tiny little sample lol. The directions say for head to toe moisture, I may be able to use it on both hands but that is about it.

"This bestselling, Japanese cream has a concentrated formula that heals cracked hands, chapped lips, and other forms of dryness. It's your new carry-on essential" Wait. A moisturizer you can use on your body and your lips? I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Full Size: $16 for 1.25 oz (This was not full size, so it's worth less than a $1 of product)

THE LIFESTYLE EXTRA *LUNA BAR*

This picture was taken before I tossed it to my husband to eat because the thought of it made me queasy and when he opened it, it was inedible because it had melted into a gross mess while in transit. Which is why I begged Birchbox in an e-mail to please never send me food again. Too risky, plus what if I was allergic? I don't get it.

TOTAL VALUE OF MY BOX: $36.50

After I got over the Luna Bar anger, I could actually admit that this was an awesome box for the month especially after adding up the total.

If I had to rate this box I'd give it an 8/10 and honestly if they just left that bar out, I'd be giving it a 10/10!

Do you get Birchbox? What did you get in your box this month?

  5. We don't get Birch Box here, we just get Glossy Box, JolieBox and SheSaidBeauty boxes - NONE of which ever contain food!!! What a bizzare idea?!!! I can see why you're angry!

On the up side though, Eyeko are one of my fave brands and that product is amazing! The Stainiac looks fab too! :)

  8. Great box, but I don't get why makeup box companies send food-especially in the hot summer weather. It's a no brainer really, I certainly wouldn't want a Luna bar-I would say just give me a free lip balm for the cost of the food :D xoxo

    1. That's exactly why I was so peeved, why send food number one but then something that could melt in the heat. Useless.

  11. I would have been really upset too if I got a Luna Bar! If I really wanted one I would go to the grocery store and buy one..not get one in my beauty subscription service! Other than that, great box!!

  14. I received the staniac and the Eyeko Fat stick. I like them both but need extra practice with the Eyeko stick because it is really fat. Let me know how you like it!! The Luna Bar is a joke. I hate food and perfume in my box. They ate both useless.
