| Fishtail Braid Manicure
Have you seen this manicure everywhere lately? I sure have. It's hit YouTube, Pinterest and the blogosphere with the quickness! I have been thinking about trying it for awhile but just never got around to it. Well last night the lovely ladies over at WyoSparkles started sharing their pictures on Instagram of their very own "Fishtail Manicures" and I was
How To: Fishtail Braid Manicure
It was seriously A LOT easier than I thought it was going to be. You basically pick three colors, I chose all Julep polishes {Gayle(purple), Robin (blue) & Blake (yellow)} and used Gayle (purple) as my base color. You put on two coats of that for Step 1 and then for Steps 2-8 you take all three colors and basically paint on a basket weaving (or braided) pattern. You really don't have to worry about the thickness of the lines as you go because as you can see with each new line you can navigate how much you want to show of the previous color. The best part is, you don't have to wait for each color to dry fully, just give it a minute and when it gets to the sticky stage feel free to move on with the next color. I'll list the order so you can get a better idea.
I honestly thought it was going to be so much harder but after you get that first X pattern you are good to go and can just weave accordingly. I had a lot of fun with this manicure. I have seen some people doing it on their whole hand but that seemed like it would be too much for me, plus I have no patience so I probably would have thrown things. Hopefully, you'll all get a chance to try out this fun new manicure and definitely tweet me pictures if you do!!
Do you love it or hate it? Are you going to rock this look?

Thanks!!
DeleteWow, this look really fab hun. It does look quite hard to do though. When you do the basket weave do you layer the polish over each other? X :-(
ReplyDeleteYes, just like in the tutorial you go ahead and basically just do X's the whole way.
DeleteThis is the first I've heard of the fishtail manicure! Looks cool but the way I paint my nails I dontthinkbit would turn out quite as well!
ReplyDeleteIt's super easy!! I promise!! Try it <3
DeleteDo you have an iphone? I take all my tutorial pics with my iphone too. I find the Camera+ is the best camera app to take picture. It makes images look sharper and it actually captures the details better.
ReplyDeleteI don't have an iphone...I'm anti apple lol Team Android all the way. I will definitely check if they have that in the app market though. I did this with my point and shoot and it didn't capture it the way my phone was, but my phone was making the colors wonky with the lighting.
DeleteWow this is amazing! This looks so good! I will definitely have to try this out!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteAwesomely cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteSo glad that you had the tutorial ... I would have never guessed it was doable :) Love the design and the color combos are endless! Thank your for sharing your talent with us at The "Sunday Stop"!
