The Drugstore Series - Lipstick

drugstore lipstick

Hey Ladies! Welcome to this week's addition of "The Drugstore Series", last week we discussed Mascara and it was a big hit, I loved hearing about all of your favorite drugstore brand mascara's. Today we're gonna talk about some pretty awesome drugstore lipstick brands that are just as good, if not better then the high end lipsticks on the market.

Wet N Wild lipstick

Wet n Wild Mega Last is smei-matte, creme finish long wearing lipstick from the brand. The line is available in 26 shades. The lipstick applies beautifully and is super moisturizing for all day wear. Each shade is a rich fully pigmented color. The lipstick above is in the shade 907C "Mauve Outta Here" The Mega Last line is available for $1.99 in most drugstores.

Wet N Wild Silk Finish is another lipstick from the Wet N Wild brand available in 22 shades, these lipsticks go on super creamy with no flaking, dryness or caking. They are all blendable and apply nicely with awesome pigment. The Silk Finish line is available for $.99 in most drugstores, that's a definite steal. This is one of the best lipstick brands I have ever used.

NYC Color Ultra Moist Lipwear is one of the best in the NYC lip product line. A creamy polished variety of 12 shades with a built in conditioner for an ultra moisturized look and feel. This lipstick retails in the drugstore of $.99 and is an awesome catch.

Revlon Lip Butter is a line of award winning lipsticks in 20 shades going from sheer to extremely pigmented. These lip butters are super moisturizing, apply wonderfully and provide ample amount of color. They're available for $7.49 and this one is in the shade "Creamsicle", check here for a full review and swatches.

Maybelline Baby Lips if you're not on the Baby Lips bandwagon yet, go get you some! You will not regret it, while they have 5 standard balms with SPF, they're always coming out with limited editions. Some have sheer pigment but with Pink Punch, it packs a punch of color and is the perfect lipstick for an everyday look. They're available for $2.97 in most drugstores.

As you can see in the swatches above, you can definitely get great color payoff without breaking the bank. Each lipstick is under $10 and most are even under $5. If you're looking for a new lipstick or just to experiment with different shades, the drugstore is absolutely where it's at.

What are some of your favorite drugstore lipsticks?

  3. I like wnw in 901b, it sorta drys your lips out, so definitely add gloss. The revlon lip butters are great! While I think that babylips is over rated.......I do like how they smell.

    1. I don't really find any drying with the wnw's if I apply balm first. I love BabyLips, I don't think they're overrated at all. I have never used a better balm.

  6. I was pretty disappointed in the Revlon Lip Butters. They weren't "super" moisturizing for me and actually felt pretty gritty after a short while, which may have just been my lips shriveling up. To be fair, I'll have to give them a full days wear. I thought the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains where a much better experience. And I have to agree with Missmarch, Baby Lips are over rated. I'm looking forward to trying Drew Barrymore's Flower Beauty Lip Service Lip Butters.

    1. They're one of the best moisturizing lipsticks I've ever used, so for me it was a win and my lips tend to lean towards the dryer side. The Balm stains actually had the opposite effect on me they dried my lips out and I hated them, Covergirl was way better for me. I don't think Baby Lips are over rated, I've yet to find a lip balm (even high end) that has lived up to the repair it does for my lips or the pigments it adds.

  7. I thought the Revlon lip butter was worth the price, and the color was really sheer and pretty. My lips have been extremely dry this winter so I've been using mostly moisturizing products, vs. what I usually use. Thanks for all the info Ange.
