As soon as Summer begins to make an appearance I am all over my makeup routine making big changes. My whole routine becomes completely different than it is during any other time of the year. The want for lighter products becomes real. I need to seek out Summer makeup that isn’t going to melt away after an hour in the sun and humidity. It’s super easy to give your routine a Summer Makeup refresh and pick out products that are actually going to work for you in the heat, at the pool or on the beach!
There are certain products that you can swap out and add in these Summer Makeup products to keep you looking fresh all season long. No more worrying about raccoon eyes while walking down the street in 90 degree weather. Spontaneous pool party? These products will absolutely have you covered! Everything is super light so your face won’t feel weighed down and cakey and you can enjoy your hot Summer days without worrying about your makeup! Today we’re going to share some of my favorite products in each of these categories!
First up are these Summer Makeup: Primers, this is going to be the most important part of any summer makeup routine. Primers are going to work for you and hold everything in place be it your whole face or just your eye shadow you’ll want a primer in your makeup bag!
Next up are the Summer Makeup: Tinted Moisturizers & a BB cream because this one works like tinted moisturizer and I absolutely love it. In the summer months it’s a good idea to swap out your foundation for one of these because a heavy and full coverage foundation is going to be all wrong for you. As you sweat, it’s going to work against you and clog your pores. Have you used liquid foundation in the dead of Summer? Melting, pooling and just overall gross is probably what you were left with. These lightweight tinted moisturizers will keep your foundation fresh! They’re super light and will keep your skin looking dewy without looking oily. A bonus? They all have SPF which most regular liquid foundations will not have.
This is my favorite; Summer Makeup: Cream Blushes are some of the most awesome little inventions in the history of ever. Swapping out a powder product for a cream base in the Summer is going to be something you’re wanting to do with most of your products that are interchangeable like this. Powders applied in the Summer are most likely going to end up looking cakey, while a cream will stay put and look subtle and flushed all day long.
Next up, Summer Makeup: Cream Bronzers and you can best believe I will be rocking out with these all Summer long. I love, love, love bronzers! In the summer I go with cream based bronzing products for the same reason as I choose cream blush, it doesn’t get cakey!
(^^^^This is actually a self tanner, but works fab as a bronzer!)
Another important one is Summer Makeup: Concealers & Highlighters and again these are all cream and liquid based. The concealears are waterproof so you don’t have to worry about anything moving anywhere it’s not supposed to.
Of course we’ve got more cream with the Summer Makeup: Eye shadows! If anything I think the lesson you should learn from all of this is that cream products are your besties during the summer. If you’re wanting crease proof, waterproof and a whole lot of staying power go with one of these options.
We’re almost to end but let’s chat Summer Makeup: Waterproof Eyeliner because raccoon eyes are NOT cute! It’s gotta be waterproof and it needs to stay all day. I’m a huge eyeliners junkie so I have high standards for this!
Summer Makeup: Waterproof Mascaras are a biggie for summer makeup for obvious reasons but much like the eye liner ‘raccoon eyes are NOT cute’ so I try to find mascaras that last, don’t clump, give me volume, are long wearing and are waterproof! This list is some personal summer makeup favorites!
Second to last, Summer Makeup: Lip Balms bright lipsticks may be fun for the season but they are super drying to your lips. Going with a tinted lip balm or stain is going to give you that awesome color while moisturizing!
Last but certainly not least, as this is one of the most important parts; Summer Makeup: Loose Powders are going to be essential in keeping everything together and really making sure your summer makeup stays in place.
Wow, that was a lot, right? I hope you found this post helpful and can go ahead and give your summer makeup bags and routines a quick refresh when you swap out for some of my favorite items!
