Stay on trend this year with red! Easy Nail Art for Beginners

I’ve got another post for you in our Easy Nail Art for Beginners series! This one is super fun and it’s all about the red! Red is a perfect shade for the season so I wanted to stay on trend and build a fun and easy manicure around the color.

OPI 50 Shades of Grey

I went with ‘Romantically Involved‘ from OPI for our red base and ‘Embrace the Gray‘ also from OPI for our gray accent on the nails. As always when I have a manicure in mind I head over to Sally’s, their Nail Studio makes it so easy to find everything I need and I can browse tons of colors.

You’re going to want to start with clean and naked nails. I didn’t use a base coat for this particular manicure because we are using two polish shades plus a top coat so I didn’t feel that we would need it. OPI is an amazing brand so the polish will hold up well.

OPI Romantically Involved

Start by painting two coats of the OPI ‘Romantically Involved‘ on your nails for your main color. With this manicure, the red, is going to be the main focal point so you want to make sure to use both coats of polish so that it’s nice and opaque.

Nail Crystals

I wanted to add some bling to this manicure so while at Sally’s I scoped out their nail art section and grabbed this pack of crystals.

Nail Art Crystals

I find it easiest to lay all of the crystals out on your table and grab some tweezers. The tweezers make handling the crystals super easy. Once your two coats of red are completely dry gently place each crystal onto your accent nail.

At this point you can go ahead and take your top coat and paint the nail that you applied the crystals to. Leave the rest of your nails for now. I always go with Seche Vite and feel like it’s one of the absolute best!

This is where your ‘Embrace the Gray’ is going to come in. I wanted the manicure to have a bit more to it. So just go ahead and paint a thin line on the tip of each nail. You don’t have to worry about struggling to make sure it’s straight and precise, once you put the top coat on it all looks fabulous together.
