House Salad Smoothie

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Aspen Dental for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Salad In A Jar Everyone loves a salad, right? The best part of a salad, at least for me, is the crunch. I like the lettuce to be SUPER crunchy and and super cold. I put the bag salad in the freezer for about an hour before I eat it, just so it has extra crunch to it. I add bacon bits and sunflower seeds for even more crunch. I love smothering it in dressing.  I just love it. I started to wonder, what if I couldn’t eat my salad? What if I couldn’t take a giant bite out of pizza? What if I couldn’t devour that delicious Philly cheesesteak? I love food so much that I’m almost certain I would cry, cry, cry. You know how I make sure that that never ever happens? I go to the dentist twice a year because I am crazy about my oral care.
Salad In A Jar How often do you go to the dentist? Last year more than 150 million Americans did not visit a dentist, either because they struggled to find care when they needed it or delayed it as a lesser priority. Seriously, imagine trying to dig into that salad and get that super crisp crunch without teeth. I can’t even imagine. salad-blender Americans love to eat. I know I definitely love to eat. Wanna know what’s not often realized? How our food obsession may not be as enjoyable in the future if oral health isn’t treated as a priority today. In order to show Americans how important taking care of their oral health is to their future health, Aspen Dental is launching the “A Taste of the Future” program with famed NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. The gave Danica a food truck and had her dish up some smoothie styles “easy eats” to customers to serve as a reminder to see a dentist regularly.  Danica served up liquefied meals to these unsuspecting customers and they captured their reactions for an attention-grabbing look at the potential consequences of avoiding the dentist. salad-blended I wanted to play too. I took my delicious, super fresh and suuuuuuuper crisp salad and chucked it all in a blender. Crazy, right? But I really wanted to get a feel for what it would be like if I just forgot about oral care. And I wanted to prove a point to my husband, who thinks going to the dentist isn’t a priority. So I blended that salad up. And told him if he couldn’t drink the whole thing, he had to schedule his next dentist appointment asap. House Salad Smoothie Can we just talk about what it looks like? CRINGE. Why would you ever want to drink that? You wouldn’t I promise. It smelled awful. But my all knowing husband was all about this, right? That is, until he got a good whiff of this baby. The thing about putting a salad in a blender? It doesn’t just blend, you have to add water to it to really liquefy it. Just talking about this makes me cringe. It smelled awful. He wouldn’t even taste it. I did, a small little taste “just to see” what it would be like. And let me just tell you, GO MAKE A DENTIST APPOINTMENT RIGHT NOW. It’s been a few hours and I feel like I can still taste it. It promptly went down the garbage disposal. Can you blame me? I’m betting not one person reading this would actually want to drink this thing. Stop avoiding the dentist! This ‘taste of the future’ can totally be avoided. And believe me, you want to avoid it at all costs. Aspen Dental is one of the largest and fastest-growing networks of dental care providers in the U.S., providing millions of Americans with access to quality, affordable dental care to help keep their mouths on track. If you don’t want your future meals to look like this mess or like they were made by Danica Patrick‘s Easy Eats food truck, then don’t avoid regular visits to the dentist. I certainly don’t and I’m happy to say this little experiment had my husband calling the dentist for an appointment almost immediately. If you need more convincing? Be sure to check out the “unique” creations Danica served up to unsuspecting fans in Charlotte.
