Quick and Easy Unicorn Waves

I’m a super fan when it comes to hairstyles that are quick and easy. Especially styles that are perfect for three and four day hair. I don’t like to wash my hair a whole lot because I use creative color and it fades a lot quicker than permanent colors. Also,it’s just not great for my hair texture. I’m usually a day four or five washer. So, for that means by day three I need to get creative with my styles because by that point my hair has started to lose that tiny bit of natural volume. I’ve come up with the perfect style to get you some much needed volume without product and it’s quick, easy and super cute.

These unicorn waves, as I’ve decided to call them, are so easy that even someone who has no idea how to create a style can do them. We’re only using one tool today, the Ion Titanium Pro Triple Barrel Waver. This is the perfect tool for this style, you get silky-smooth, long-lasting waves. Unicorn waves are a great way to get a curly style for those of us with hair that doesn’t really like to hold a curl. This method gets me waves that stay for a day or two. It’s super easy to achieve.

Quick and Easy Unicorn Waves Tutorial Step One

STEP ONE: Run a brush or comb through your hair to make sure it’s tangle free. Then take a few hair clips and pin back the top sections. You’re going to start on the bottom section of hair.

Quick and Easy Unicorn Waves Tutorial Step Two

STEP TWO: Grab your barrel waver, I’m using the Ion Titanium Pro Triple Barrel Waver from Sally Beauty, and start getting your wave on. I start about an inch below the root to get a more laid back undone wave style.

Quick and Easy Unicorn Waves Tutorial Step Three

STEP THREE: You’re going to use the waver to do the bottom layer of hair first, while the top half is still pinned up. I do it in about two inch sections, clamp the waver down and hold for about 5 seconds. Unclamp ad move down until the whole section is wavy.

STEP FOUR: Let down the next section of hair and repeat steps two and three until you have your entire head done.

Quick and Easy Unicorn Waves Tutorial Step Five

STEP FIVE: Once you have waved the rest of your hair you’re going to let it sit for about 3 minutes to cool down. I take this time to finish up my makeup or have a mini-dance party whatever you feel inclined to do.

Quick and Easy Unicorn Waves Tutorial Step Six

STEP SIX: Loosen the curls very gently with your hands. I tend to just poof up sections and give it a little bounce.

STEP SEVEN: Use your fingers to gently separate any curls that are too uniform.

Quick and Easy Unicorn Waves Tutorial Step Eight

STEP EIGHT: Flip your hair over and fluff it up with your fingers. If you really struggle to hold a curl or your worried about humidity you could add some texturizing at this time but I find with this style you can go without product and get a really fun style.

Quick and Easy Unicorn Waves Tutorial Step Nine

STEP NINE: Style. I take one or two bobby pins and just pin back the front section of my hair for a nice pulled back finished look.

I’ve tried other barrel wavers in the past and nothing has been able to give me the exact style I was going for without the help of 5 different products. It’s the secret to wavy hair for any straight hair girl! You can find this waver exclusively at Sally Beauty, my happy place.
