L'Oreal True Match Foundation, $11.49

The L’Oreal True Match foundation is the second I tried of the bunch and it was one I had tried maybe once before but never really gave a second thought. I was super glad that I decided to give this drugstore foundation a second chance. I love the natural finish that it gives and the wear time is definitely decent. This one was also a 2014 Readers Choice winner in the Allure Best of Beauty awards. Available in 17 shades, with light to medium coverage for all skin types.

With patented color technology, True Match™ Makeup precisely matches your skin’s tone and texture and coordinates perfectly with True Match™ Powder, Blush, and Concealer. Formulated with Precise Match™ Technology so you can control coverage and fine-tune it. Ultra-pure formula contains no oils, fragrances, or pore-clogging fillers, so all you see is beautiful, radiant, flawless skin. With Vitamins A and C, wheat germ and grape fruit extract to keep your skin nourished, protected and healthy.

It’s definitely one of the long lasting drugstore foundations. I tested this every day for a week in different situations and I would say you get about 8-10 hours out of it.

This foundation applied best for me when I dotted it onto cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. The used a beauty blender or real techniques sponge to blend.

L'Oreal Visible Lift Blur Foundation, $13.99

An anti-aging foundation? A formula that works with your skin to blur the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles? Sign me up. L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Foundation, I was skeptical about this at first but in the end I really enjoyed it. Lightweight with the formula of a cc cream almost but with an incredible flawless finish. It’s really lightweight on your skin and applies easily. Available in twelve shades and for all skin types.

Now a makeup that blurs the look of lines, wrinkles and uneven texture while delivering the anti-aging benefits of Visible Lift. For a fresh, smooth youthful finish you’ll love. And not a flaw in sight.

While this claims to give you 25 hours worth of coverage, that’s probably something I will never test out. However, it definitely gave me great coverage for 11 hours without budging.

Best applied with a foundation brush, like this one. I put about a dime sized amount on the back of my hand and use the brush to apply and blend it out.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte, $12.99

Let me just tell you, we were not ready for L’Oreal to give us such an amazing foundation. The L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte is the best thing to hit the drugstore since Maybelline Great Lash. You get this barely there, flawless, demi-matte finish. Applies easily, awesome for combination skin and available in twelve shades and long wearing. This matte foundation differs from most of it’s matte counterparts in that it doesn’t leave you looking flat.

Achieve a matte finish that won’t fall flat with this air-light, longwearing liquid formula. Lightweight and creamy, foundation goes on smooth with a demi-matte finish that lasts up to 24 hours—hiding imperfections for a smooth, clear complexion.

This drugstore foundation claims a 24 hour demi-matte wear time, like the Rimmel, it’s not something I tested for that long but I did wear this to an all event from morning until late night and got a good 13 hours out of it. It didn’t move at all.

This is best applied with your favorite foundation brush, this is what I use.

  • Not like I need another reason to buy makeup BUT OMG, I want to buy everything. I want to try the 2015 L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte! I just don’t know my color, but I saw you said if we buy it at CVS we can return it? That’s a good deal. I may try and get it there and I can return it if my color doesn’t match. I have to get new brushes and the little sponge.

  • You put so much work into this! I’m really impressed. I definitely agree that drugstore foundations are underrated. For me, I struggle to find a drugstore foundation that fits my needs – cruelty free, good for dry skin, and pale. Thank you for all your great tips for application!

  • I really want to try the Visible Lift foundation! The Infallible had an amazing finish, but it ended up making me break out almost immediately which was SO SAD. Of course my face would hate an awesome foundation!

  • First time reading, I love the application tips! One question, which of those has the most colors on the African American end of the spectrum? I often find I can’t wear drugstore foundation because they have 2 colors for black girls, and neither are my color!

  • Thank you for your informative post.
I have a fair, light porcelain complexion, with pink undertones and a bit of redness on my cheeks.
I have tried quite a few of these foundations and this is what I have found:
    1. The L’Oreal Lift Blur Anti-Aging foundation was beautiful. It had a gorgeous feel to it. But, alas, it oxidised on my skin and I was left looking brownish by the end of the day. I have since found out that L’Oreal foundations run quite yellow or neutral.
    2. The Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation – great colour match and I am a fan of their Match Perfection range. It had the light pink undertones that I needed. But this foundation was too heavy for me.
    3. Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous – is the one I am using now and it combines the best of both worlds. It has the pinky undertones that I need with a medium coverage that doesn’t run cakey. It lasts pretty well all day too. So far so good.
I have tried many high end foundations and have ended up throwing them away because they did not match my undertones. I would suggest that it is better to try the DS foundations before you turn to the HE ones as some of them are not what they are cracked up to be.
