Let’s Do Something. Period.

Power of the Periods

This is a sponsored post on behalf of U By Kotex, all opinions are my own.

We live in a world that is sometimes scary and full of tragedy. It seems like every time we turn on the news or browse our social feeds there is something waiting and it’s heartbreaking.  But in between all of that, there are people who come together and make this world a better place. The littlest things can bring big change. I see these changes often, and it makes my heart just a little bit happier.

As a blogger who has a beauty focus, I’ve always supported my local women’s shelters with donations. Taking boxes full of makeup so that women can have a little extra brightness in their day or on their next job interview. I drop off shampoos and conditioners because while I’m lucky to get so many press samples, giving back warms my soul.

Power To The Period

I can’t believe that the one thing that seems like common sense to donate never crossed my mind. When I heard about the Power of the Period initiative, I was excited. This was my chance to Do Something, it could be done right here in my own neighborhood.

Power to the Period is the first-ever national period products drive. Many of the 3.5 million Americans who experience homelessness each year have limited access to and few places to turn for period products. Inspired by a tweet from Holly Sanchez and executed in partnership with, the U by Kotex Power to the Period drive encourages people to buy and donate an extra pack of period products to a homeless shelter.

Power of the Periods

We can make a difference. It’s so easy. And for something that is sometimes easily overlooked because we just grab what we need and go,  I’m happy to be a part of such a great cause because for some women that isn’t the case. The U by Kotex Power to the Period drive is proof that together we can change the way we think about, talk about and support the period needs of homeless people in our communities.
