Dewy skin during the winter is pretty much my goal but it can be a daunting task. The frigid cold air, blistering winds and the dry heat that our heaters pump into our homes and offices make it so that our skin is stripped of its moisture and leaves us super dry during this season. There are definitely ways to prevent this; from cracked hands to flakey legs there are ways to prevent dry winter skin.
Your everyday beauty regimen that you’ve been using in the summer might not cut it as your only preventative measure during the winter. As the seasons change, so should our skin care.
1. KEEP SKIN NOURISHED
I keep AmLactin products all over the apartment all year long but especially in the winter. I like to keep the AmLactin Ultra Hydrating Body Cream in the kitchen. The super rich, thick consistency is super soothing. When you’re doing the dishes, you tend to strip your hands of all moisture so I make sure to apply this when I’m finished. AmLactin’s powerful alpha-hydroxy therapy exfoliates and hydrates so skin is soft and smooth.
2. BUNDLE UP
One of the easiest ways to prevent your skin from getting too dry with long term exposure to wind and cold is dressing for the weather. While you may think that hat hair is awful, I promise it’s better than the alternative. Wear a hat, gloves, scarf, heavy socks, and a warm coat anytime you’re going outside.
If your feet get super dry, I’ve found the solution for dry skin. The AmLactin Foot Cream has an ULTRAPLEX® formula that gently exfoliates and is clinically proven to intensely hydrate. It helps prevent splits and cracks while smoothing calluses. Experience touchable, soft feet from heel to toe. I love that I don’t have to be afraid to take my shoes off. AmLactin makes it so that my feet are always left looking fabulous.
3. STAY AWAY FROM WET CLOTHING
Is it snowing or rainy where you are during the winter months? Make sure you’re drying your gloves, scarves, and hats before putting them back on.
4. PLUG IN A HUMIDIFIER
That dry heat I was talking about? Our apartment has electric baseboard heat and it makes the air super dry which in turn makes my skin dry and can even cause it to crack. I keep a humidifier plugged in and running in our living room and bedroom to help restore moisture back into the air. I also keep my AmLactin Cerapeutic® Restoring Body Lotion with me all the time. It instantly transforms your skin. It is the only formula to combine clinically proven, patented ULTRAPLEX® and three essential ceramides to relieve extreme dryness for 24 hours. It leaves my skin soft and smooth and it’s my favorite to apply right before bed and when I get up in the morning.
5. SAY NO TO HOT SHOWERS
You might think that a 30-minute hot bath or shower sounds fabulous after walking back from the subway in the frigid cold, but it’s not. It’s actually drying out your skin. Keep your shower or baths to less than 15 minutes and use lukewarm water. Pair it with the AmLactin Moisturizing Body Lotion and you’re good to go. This lotion goes beyond an everyday lotion; it’s rich with powerful alpha-hydroxy therapy. It is clinically proven with 12% lactic acid, pH-balanced for the skin, boosts the skin’s natural renewal process through gentle exfoliation and deeply moisturizes. It reveals softer, smoother skin.
