Hair Heroes

October 16, 2012

I have been color treating my hair since I was 16, so at 28 it has definitely had it’s fair share of processing and I have always tried to keep it as healthy as possible through whatever color it has been. A little less than a year ago I died it a dark brown and I couldn’t stand it, drove me crazy so within two days I brought it back to my natural pale blonde so needless to say my hair hated me. It was left almost straw like, dry, brittle and had no shine left. The split ends were crazy and it would almost break just from touching it. So I needed an arsenal of products that would on top of the hair cut that I got to get rid of most of the dead ends help treat it and bring it back to a healthy way of life. With a combination of these products and a few really crappy ones that I have been through my hair is finally at a state that it is shiny and bouncy and full of life again. I know many girls have issues with dry hair, over processed hair or just look for a change and don’t want to spend crazy salon prices so I wanted to share with everyone my “Hair Heroes” that can all be purchased in Walmart, Target or a local drugstore.

Organix Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Shampoo – This is my favorite shampoo and I am in love with the smell, if you’re interested in a full review you can check it out here.

Macadamia Oil Healing Oil Treatment – I absolutely do not know what I did without this product. Amazing probably doesn’t even cover it completely. You can check out my full review of this product here.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle – I think everyone knows by now that I am obsessed with this product. If I had to vote everything else off the island to keep this, I totally would. Highly recommend it.

Organix Macadamia Oil Moisture Mask – One of the best hair masks on the drugstore market. Great results and a lot of bang for your buck. Check out my full review here to find out more.

Sexy Hair Organics Leave-In Conditioner – This smells amazing and is perfect for a great leave-in. I found this product at Big Lots for $5 and stocked up because I think it’s discontinued as I no longer can find it in stores or on the Sexy Hair website but I have seen it in 3 different Big Lots so I suggest getting some for a great price if you have a Big Lots by you.

Organix Awapuhi Ginger Conditioner – The counterpart of the shampoo and is just as great. I am absolutely in love with the smell and would suggest this to any one looking for salon quality results for cheap.

What are your hair heroes? What can’t you live without?

I’ve just recently discovered the wonder that is Paul Mitchell’s Awapuhi wild ginger line, but unfortunately my wallet doesn’t love me for it. I’m so happy to know that Organix make a similar product, I will have to try it out, and at least save a few bucks! I’d have to say my hair hero at the moment is the Optimum Miracle Oil hair moisturizer, as it leaves me with defined ringlets and no frizz (definitely a miracle!). My long time favorite has always been John Frida’s Spiral Curls hair spray. I think I really have to try this Macadamia stuff, everyone seems to love it! (btw, fellow Jersey girl here!) xx

I loveeeee the Organix Macadamia nut oil shampoo and conditioner- I also use 3 minute miracle a few times a week! It’s a 10 leave in conditioner is pricy but worth it, I have really damaged hair from over coloring so I’m always on the look out for hair repairers !

    PS.
i’ve nominated you for a blog award on my blog <3

A total of 87,000 women were intentionally killed in 2017. More than half of them (58 per cent) ̶ 50,000 ̶ were killed by intimate partners or family members, meaning that 137 women across the world are killed by a member of their own family every day. More than a third (30,000) of the women intentionally killed in 2017 were killed by their current or former intimate partner ̶ someone they would normally expect to trust.⁣

🔟 Creating this community has been one of my favorite things about life. What will you find here?! Easy beauty tips and tutorials, attainable fashion, endless Amazon finds, but also the UNCOMFORTABLE stuff: pap smears, depression, anxiety, the effects my husbands addiction had on our marriage, eating disorders, struggles with fertility, body acceptance, and being comfortable in your own skin. I try to keep it as real as humanly possible. Being so vulnerable all of the time isn’t the easiest thing but if it helps just one person feel less alone, I’m good! ⠀⁣

Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thin Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. ⁣
⁣
We’re about two hit two years since Jim entered rehab and I’m forever proud of the changes he made and the man he has become⁣
⁣
For the person reading this who loves an addict. It’s changed you, I know. It made you a little harder to reach. It made getting out a bed a little rough. It’s isolated you from groups of friends. Your hearts a little more closed off then it once was. Your trust is a little bit broken. You’ve felt more alone then you ever have. You’ve felt judged. You’ve felt betrayed. You’ve felt at fault.⁣
⁣
Whether you’re past it or still in the trenches. I want you to know some things. ⁣
⁣
I need you to know that it’s not your fault. I need you to know that you could not have done anything differently. I need you to know that you can’t cure it. You didn’t cause it. And you can’t control it. ⁣
⁣
Most of all I need you to know that it gets better. I need you to know that it’s ok to feel happiness again. It’s ok to put yourself first. It’s ok to take care of your. ⁣
⁣
And you’re not alone. ⁣
⁣
I promise you that there’s a light on this side of the tunnel just waiting for you to walk through. And that light doesn’t mean it’s over, it’s just there to guide you. Because every day could be a battle. ⁣
⁣
I stayed for the battle. But that’s not the only way. If you need to leave that’s okay too. Either way. You have to get to that light. ⁣
⁣
Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Go to a meeting yourself. Grab a book (Co-Dependent No More, was helpful for me) listen to a podcast. Get yourself a village. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF⁣
⁣
