Sometimes, it’s not all about the make-up. Sometimes, dare I say, I walk around the house no makeup, hair on top of my head in pajamas and scrub my apartment. I’m a clean freak, and I’ve already shared with you how to spring clean your expired make-up. I have been in full on Spring cleaning mode && today I want to share with you one of my FAVORITE ways to make my apartment smell absolutely delicious while I am cleaning! This DIY air freshener is amazing and one of of my favorite ways to freshen the WHOLE place!
INGREDIENTS
- Peels from 2 Oranges
- Small pot of water
- A tbsp of essential oil
DIRECTIONS
- Throw the orange peels, essential oil into a pot full of water (enough to cover).
- Simmer on the stove, for as long as you want.
I use ‘Fresh Cotton’ essential oil and that gives this the perfect clean citrus scent that fills up the apartment, I let it simmer all day and the scent stays for days. Amazing. I have also done this with lemon, lime and grapefruit peels but the oranges are my favorite and much stronger! Let me know if you try this DIY Air Freshener out.
I will have to try the air freshener. Sounds wonderful!
This sounds wonderful xx

I tried it but I only had 1 cutie. Not the same AT ALL. I’ll give it a 2nd try this weekend.
That looks really cool! I want to try this!
I bet that citrus smell is heavenly with the oils. I’ll have to remember that for next time. Thanks for sharing 🙂 xo
Sounds heavenly!
I love orange scent! My mother makes something similar to this, and it makes her house smell amazing. I’m sure yours did as well!

Amazing idea!
Ohh, this is such a great idea! 🙂
OOOO! Awesome idea! I learned my favorite tip on making the house smell good when I was a bartender. The owners fiance told me she would trick him into thinking she’d been cleaning all day by adding a little bit of lemon scented lysol to a pot of water and simmering it all day. I don’t know if it actually works because I have this fear of inhaling chemical fumes so I never tried it, but I just thought it was so funny.
You are adorable. And its funny cause I actually walk around most days without makeup too. 🙂 Im sure with my blog, people might assume Im always made up. But nope! Love this super easy DIY girl! Thanks for sharing. ♥
Love this! And what a great smell for the kitchen to have. Pinning this.
I’m going to do this! But I’ve got a question, after you’ve simmered it, do you just put it in a jar without cap and let it be?
I just throw it away after I let it simmer, I usually let it simmer all day on the stove 🙂

Thank you!
My family would always do this during the holidays, but add some cinnamon sticks in as well. Live it!
