Skincare For Beginners

I have this crazy relationship with my skincare routine and it has been that way for many years. It probably started during the high school acne phase and never wanting to go back there so I have always kept up with. Yes, I have tried different products along the way and had to switch different things in and out to make it work for me but each morning and every night it happens. So when I heard from a lot of you that you don’t have a skincare routine and aren’t really sure where to start I thought that I would put together this skincare for beginners post to give you an idea of where to start and to show you that it can be affordable, you don’t have to spend hundreds to keep up with a routine and keep your skin looking great. A few months back, I share my Winter Skincare Essentials and I suggest checking out that post if you already have your routine down but are looking to switch it up with the cold winter air!

1 || NEUTROGENA DEEP CLEAN MAKEUP REMOVER WIPES || $7.99 – These are perfect for anyone on the lookout for makeup wipes as well as someone who needs to save time in their routine and want to use them to clean your face as well. I’m currently testing out a new brand this winter but I will go straight back to these all the time! They feature ultra-soft, pre-moistened wipes that effectively and gently sweep away makeup, dirt and oil for clear, fresh skin.

2 || MONTAGNE JEUNESSE FRUIT SMOOTHIE MASQUE  || $1.99 – I’d recommend adding a face mask to your routine 1-2 times a week and this one is pretty perfect! You can deep clean your skin with the power of this natural fresh fruit smoothie facial mask, it doesn’t hurt that it smells delicious!

3 || NEUTROGENA NATURALS PURIFYING FACIAL CLEANSER || $7.99 – I can’t get enough of this stuff, it’s seriously one of my favorite cleansers (admittedly I have a few favorites) and it’s so affordable and really rivals most of the high end brands. It completely cleans skin and removes makeup in one step without stripping skin’s natural moisture.

4 || GNARLY WHALE GREEN TEA TONER || $10 – This is a pretty new one from The Gnarly Whale Shop but I have been using and completely loving it these last few months! Homemade and completely natural so no harsh chemicals and no alcohol to dry out your skin. Don’t forget to use the code ‘HAIRSPRAY20′ at checkout for 20% off your order at Gnarly Whale!

5 || LUMENE VITAMIN C+ RADIANCE COCKTAIL  || $18.99 – In the beginning I was immediately drawn to this because of the colors, it’s just that fab. It works wonders though. It will completely even out your skintone and give you a subtle glow. This Product For Normal/Dry Skin Contains Arctic Cloudberry. The Active Ingredients Brighten The Skin, Improve Moisture Balance, And Protect Against The Harmful Effects Of The Environment. Highly Conditioning Cranberry Seed Oil Combines With Cloudberry To Help Nourish And Vitalize Even The Driest Skin. Contains Over 90% Natural Ingredients Result: Radiant, Velvety Soft Skin Paraben-Free

6 || BOOTS BOTANICS ULTIMATE LIFT EYE GEL  || $14.69 – Please, don’t cringe at the price of this eye gel because I promise you; IT’S TOTALLY WORTH IT! I saw almost instant results within about a week from starting to use this product my lines were getting firmer. The Skin Needs Healthy Collagen To Stay Firm And Elastic . This Refreshing Gel Contains Echinacea Extract To Help Protect Collagen To Leave Skin Feeling Firmer With Gentle Massage Stimulates Microcirculation To Help Reduce Puffiness.&Nbsp; Contains Moisturizers And Film Formers To Prevent Moisture Loss And Leave The Skin Around This Delicate Area Soft And Smooth.

7 ||  YES TO BLUEBERRIES SOFTENING FACIAL EXFOLIATOR || $9.99 – You’re gonna want something that you can use once a week to exfoliate your skin. Get rid of all of those dead skin cells, smooth out your skin and give it a softer touch. This will work out great for all skin types.

8 || GARNIER RESCUE REFRESH GEL CREAM || $6.79 – This stuff is the best moisturizer, I’m betting it has something to do with the gel cream base. It’s super moisturizing, it’s absolutely perfect for this time of year too.  It locks-in moisture and blocks-out dryness using a formula with a unique combination of pure antioxidant fruit water extracts and skin conditioning Vitamin E.

I hope you enjoyed this list of skincare for beginners products! • Neutrogena makes some of my holy grail skincare products– I’m loving that purifying cleanser and the wipes are my go-tos, I can’t use anything else!

  • Hi. I’ve been so busy in the past few months, I forgot to check into your blog. So glad to be back. Great products. I’ve never tried the Garnier moisturizer, but I want to now.

  • I have to baby my skin because I break out so easily. I use cetaphil face wash, a witch hazel toner and Simple moisturizer with tea tree oil as a spot treatment. It’s cheap, but it’s effective! I might have to try those makeup remover wipes though, I just figured out that mine don’t remove all my makeup and that’s no bueno.

  • I want to try something to wash my face with. My skin is very sensitive though. I wonder if that mask will break it out? Hmmm… Thanks for sharing. I found the post on Pinterest but I’ve dropped by before. I hope your having a great day.

  • I love trying new skincare stuff.. and I’m also terrified to do so, because I never know how my skin will react. This means I have a huge hoard of samples, but few holy grail items. I do have that Lumene serum, and I like it, too. I also need to accept that I have *sigh* ‘aging’ skin and my old Clinique standby just isn’t cutting it anymore.

  • I think the mask is super gentle, I would test a small portion of your face first and go from there to make sure you don’t have a reaction with it! Have an awesome weekend!

  • Wait…were you going to give us the routine? Do you moisturize every night? When do you use the toner? Do you do some in the morning and some at night? Does exfoliating come after the moisturizer or before? I need step-by-step here, girl!

  • My routine goes like this >> Morning & Night >> Cleanser >> Toner >> serums or oils >> eye gels or creams >> moisturizer .. I moisturize daily day/night 🙂 I use a face mask anywhere from 2-4 times a week depending on what my skin needs at the moment 🙂

  • I am definitely a beginner because I have only been using moisturizing and hydrating creams throughout my existence. I’m ridiculous, I know. I am about to go get me some of these awesome products! 🙂 What do you think of Lumene’s BB Serum, if you’re familiar with it? I am thinking about that one too.

    Stay awesome 🙂
