Making Healthy Choices

Making Healthy Choices with Slim Fast #14DaysToSlim

We’ve touched a bit on my weight loss struggles and triumphs in our fitness series here and again. I’ve been struggling with a plateau and overall lack of motivation for the last few weeks. I wasn’t hitting my goals and that just caused me to spiral into not really being motivated to get up and exercise or make the healthy choices that I know I should be making. We are officially in the Summer season and I knew I had to get my act together! It wasn’t going to be easy & I knew I couldn’t do it on my own.

I needed a hero.

Hello, Slimfast! I’ve used Slimfast before to kickstart me into gear, so I had no qualms with using them again. I figured they were the extra kick in the butt I needed to get myself together and really work it for Summer.  I was excited to start with their new Slimfast 14-Day Slimdown to lose 6 pounds in the first two weeks. You just have to follow along, easy enough? Yep!

  1. Swap two meals a day with a Slimfast® protein shake or meal bar
  2. The third meal must be 500 calories
  3. Enjoy three 100 calories snacks or pieces of fruit a day
  4. Don’t exceed 1200 calories per day
  5. Do 30 minutes of light to medium exercise daily and drink plenty of water

Slimfast® Protein Meal Bar #14DaysToSlim

The new Slimfast® meal bar is the absolutely scrumptious Have Your Cake…™ Meal Bar, with 180 calories per bar it makes for the perfect meal replacement. Vanilla cake, frosting & sprinkles! Seriously, does it get any better then that? You’re telling me I can eat cake and still make a healthy choice and slimdown? Sold!  This is seriously one of the best things I have ever eaten. I’ll be honest, I was not expecting it to be SO good. I knew from previous experience it would be fine but I had no idea it would be amazing. I could and have been enjoying these twice a day for about a week and a half and have yet to tire of them. SO, so, so good. At one point my husband and I were fighting over the last one before running out to grab more from Target. I’ve been loving replacing my meals with these. Of course, I have been getting in plenty of water in my cute little mason jar with a paper straw since I am a crazy person and somehow dressing up  my water will make me more inclined to drink it and stay on track.

slimfast5

I’ve replaced breakfast with my Slimfast®  Have Your Cake…™ Meal Bar. After eating my meal bar and chugging down some water I go ahead and get my 30 minute workout on with some interval training on the treadmill. I’m a person who needs incentives (i.e. water in a cute jar) and another favorite motivator of mine is cute workout gear! I have my cake…literally and grab my water bottle and go to town jamming out for the next 30 minutes. Of note, the meal bars are super filling, being that it is so tiny I didn’t think it’d keep me full but it totally did. I had that a 100 calorie snack mid morning and then went on to lunch.

Since I work from home, it’s incredibly easy to just eat my way through the cabinets and snack all day. That’s a huge problem for me so I happily sat the meal bars right on my desk so I could just grab one for lunch and keep working without having to browse the cabinets and fridge and end up regretting my choice of meals! I’ve been eating these and having another snack mid-afternoon before moving on to my 500 calorie dinner and another 100-calorie snack (which is usually fruit) at night before bed. I’m loving the Slimfast 14 Day Slimdown adventure that I’m on and I’m already down three pounds, I’m thrilled about that! A super easy and totally convenient way to slimdown this Summer, I am loving it.

After that post to my Instagram & Facebook, I know y’all were super excited to find out if they were available in stores and what they taste like! Yes, they’re in stores you can find the new Have Your Cake… Meal Bars for about $5.49 at Target and other mass and drug stores nationwide  & they taste amazing! Don’t forget to follow Slimfast on Facebook & Pinterest to be in the know about #14DaysToSlim

What are your favorite motivators to get in shape & slim down?

Will you join me and hop aboard the #14DaysToSlim train because it’s going to be one heck of a ride! We can do this!

🔟 Creating this community has been one of my favorite things about life. What will you find here?! Easy beauty tips and tutorials, attainable fashion, endless Amazon finds, but also the UNCOMFORTABLE stuff: pap smears, depression, anxiety, the effects my husbands addiction had on our marriage, eating disorders, struggles with fertility, body acceptance, and being comfortable in your own skin. I try to keep it as real as humanly possible. Being so vulnerable all of the time isn’t the easiest thing but if it helps just one person feel less alone, I’m good! ⠀⁣

⁣
We’re about two hit two years since Jim entered rehab and I’m forever proud of the changes he made and the man he has become⁣
⁣
For the person reading this who loves an addict. It’s changed you, I know. It made you a little harder to reach. It made getting out a bed a little rough. It’s isolated you from groups of friends. Your hearts a little more closed off then it once was. Your trust is a little bit broken. You’ve felt more alone then you ever have. You’ve felt judged. You’ve felt betrayed. You’ve felt at fault.⁣
⁣
Whether you’re past it or still in the trenches. I want you to know some things. ⁣
⁣
I need you to know that it’s not your fault. I need you to know that you could not have done anything differently. I need you to know that you can’t cure it. You didn’t cause it. And you can’t control it. ⁣
⁣
Most of all I need you to know that it gets better. I need you to know that it’s ok to feel happiness again. It’s ok to put yourself first. It’s ok to take care of your. ⁣
⁣
And you’re not alone. ⁣
⁣
I promise you that there’s a light on this side of the tunnel just waiting for you to walk through. And that light doesn’t mean it’s over, it’s just there to guide you. Because every day could be a battle. ⁣
⁣
I stayed for the battle. But that’s not the only way. If you need to leave that’s okay too. Either way. You have to get to that light. ⁣
⁣
Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Go to a meeting yourself. Grab a book (Co-Dependent No More, was helpful for me) listen to a podcast. Get yourself a village. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF⁣
