90’s Beauty Products #ShareBeauty

July 20, 2014

Thank you Regency Beauty for sponsoring today’s story and helping me #ShareBeauty, as always all opinions are my own.

90s Beauty Dawsons Creek, old school Urban Decay

I realized last night that I have been a lover of all things beauty for quite sometime, and at the risk of dating myself here… When asked when I really got into beauty, what lit the fire? It was this episode of Dawson’s Creek. It made me want to find and try whatever Urban Decay was. I had the biggest girl crush on Ms. Jennifer Lindley and if she was using it, I wanted it. She clearly loved it, she even dared Dawson to steal her a lipstick. It started right in that very moment. I ventured out and bought my very first Urban Decay lipstick and nail polish and god how I wish I saved that because that packaging was so edgy and different than anything I had seen before.

I’m teaming up with Regency Beauty today for their #ShareBeauty campaign & contest, and that really got me thinking about where it all started. What products made this blog and for that matter myself what we are today. What inspired me to get into all thing makeup? What products grew my obsession? What filled my locker and my caboodle (you loved your caboodle, am I right?) so I wanted to share with y’all some of my and I’m sure your favorite 90’s beauty products for a little trip down memory lane!

90's Beauty Products! Which of these did you use?

Aqua Net (the purple can, duh), clear mascara, flavored lip smackers, and bottled emotion perfumes were a few of my favorite things. My obsession for cK one was insane (in fact, I probably still have a bottle somewhere) but didn’t come close to the love affair I had with my exclamation perfume! A girl could not live her life without her Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner, Sun-In, and her V-O5 hot oil treatments!! Mood Magic lipsticks (seriously, what we were thinking?) and Bonne Belle flip gloss were things I begged for. Stridex and Sea Breeze kept us Acne free! I loved me some Maybelline great lash mascara so much so that I still rock it. I wore body glitter all over my chest like I was coolest kid on the block as my hair was streaked in hair mascara and I sprayed fetish perfume like it was my job.

There you have it, those are the products that paved the way for me in this little beauty industry. I guess we can thank Jen Lindley, Dawson’s Creek, Urban Decay and Aqua Net for what Hairspray and Highheels is today. I’ve held many jobs in my thirty years of life but not one of them are as fulfilling as this blogging roller coaster that I am on. I love every minute of it. Sharing beauty with all of you makes my heart happy. An email or mention from a reader has the ability to make my whole day. Hearing that I’ve inspired your to try a new lipstick, a new eye shadow or manicure truly brings me so much joy. Regardless of how I got here, I love this industry, I love makeup and I love sharing that with all of you. That’s why I am so excited to share the #ShareBeauty contest!

Such a cute post! I am laughing because I just repurchased a mood lipstick. What was I thinking!? Also, AquaNet brings back memories of a different kind. I am older than you, and AquaNet from Unilever was one of my first clients when I started my market research consulting company about 20 years ago.

Oh Seabreeze. I’m convinced that a whole generation of women destroyed their skin by scrubbing their faces with Seabreeze soaked cotton balls. I’d wipe and wipe until no more “dirt” could be seen in the cotton. But that Seabreeze smell, even today I associate it with clean!
