Phyrra’s Pretty Little Elixir Hair Masque

July 11, 2014

I am a chronic hair dye addict, I have been since high school. Dyeing your hair can strip the moisture from your hair something fierce, leaving it dry and brittle. Breakage is something that I have dealt with for as long as I can remember. I am always on the hunt for products that bring a little life back into my hair, so I get excited when I can try something new! Especially something that I fellow blogger created, I have read Phyrra for a long time so I was giddy when she came out with Phyrra’s Pretty Little Elixir! It went up for sale on Futurederm so I immediately ordered!

Phyrra's Pretty Little Elixir

A miracle moisture mask that will transform chemically treated hair from dry and dull to smooth and sexy? Yep, sign me up! Let’s chat about the scent, it’s fan-freaking-tastic . I am a fan of products that smell like they walked straight out of the salon, there’s something about the scent that makes me feel comfortable. Only certain products can do that! Pretty Little Elixir does it perfectly. It was already making an awesome first impression and I hadn’t even used it, I had high hopes from the jump y’all!

Phyrra's Pretty Little Elixir

There are two ways of using this baby and I have tried both ways a few times and I like both!

  • Apply masque to clean, damp hair, evenly spreading it from the tips to roots using a wide tooth comb. To optimize moisturizing effects, cover your hair with either cling wrap or a hot towel for at least 10 minutes so that the masque can be more easily absorbed.
  • If you have extremely dry or frizzy hair, you could leave it on overnight wrapped in a towel. After you have let it sit, gently apply cool water throughout your hair before completely rinsing.

The first way, for 10 minutes, is what I have been doing most often. They suggest doing this once a week for soft, silky hair but I tend to be on the extremely dry side so I like to use masks more often. If I washed my hair more than twice a week I would probably use it more. I think I’ll do it overnight once a month and especially about three days after dying my hair!

I have seriously never had my hair be this soft in forever. I was shocked at how silky it felt, I have tried other masks that claim the same effects and they do enough but never for more than a day or two. The shine, and silkiness you find after using this masque really lasts. A bonus is how fantabulous your hair smells afterwards. When I do it for the 10 minutes, I tie a plastic Walmart bag over my head very tightly and that seems to have the same effect that saran wrap would, I just use what I have closest to me.

My verdict is, if you haven’t already… go get you some! My hair is left feeling amazing especially after dying, smells great, adds shine and leaves you smooth and ready for style! You can grab it from Futurederm where it’s currently on sale for $15.99!

More than half of them (58 per cent) ̶ 50,000 ̶ were killed by intimate partners or family members, meaning that 137 women across the world are killed by a member of their own family every day. More than a third (30,000) of the women intentionally killed in 2017 were killed by their current or former intimate partner ̶ someone they would normally expect to trust.⁣

🔟 Creating this community has been one of my favorite things about life. What will you find here?! Easy beauty tips and tutorials, attainable fashion, endless Amazon finds, but also the UNCOMFORTABLE stuff: pap smears, depression, anxiety, the effects my husbands addiction had on our marriage, eating disorders, struggles with fertility, body acceptance, and being comfortable in your own skin. I try to keep it as real as humanly possible. Being so vulnerable all of the time isn’t the easiest thing but if it helps just one person feel less alone, I’m good! ⠀⁣

Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thin Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. ⁣
⁣
We’re about two hit two years since Jim entered rehab and I’m forever proud of the changes he made and the man he has become⁣
⁣
For the person reading this who loves an addict. It’s changed you, I know. It made you a little harder to reach. It made getting out a bed a little rough. It’s isolated you from groups of friends. Your hearts a little more closed off then it once was. Your trust is a little bit broken. You’ve felt more alone then you ever have. You’ve felt judged. You’ve felt betrayed. You’ve felt at fault.⁣
⁣
Whether you’re past it or still in the trenches. I want you to know some things. ⁣
⁣
I need you to know that it’s not your fault. I need you to know that you could not have done anything differently. I need you to know that you can’t cure it. You didn’t cause it. And you can’t control it. ⁣
⁣
Most of all I need you to know that it gets better. I need you to know that it’s ok to feel happiness again. It’s ok to put yourself first. It’s ok to take care of your. ⁣
⁣
And you’re not alone. ⁣
⁣
I promise you that there’s a light on this side of the tunnel just waiting for you to walk through. And that light doesn’t mean it’s over, it’s just there to guide you. Because every day could be a battle. ⁣
⁣
I stayed for the battle. But that’s not the only way. If you need to leave that’s okay too. Either way. You have to get to that light. ⁣
⁣
Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Go to a meeting yourself. Grab a book (Co-Dependent No More, was helpful for me) listen to a podcast. Get yourself a village. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF⁣
