Since beginning my fitness journey, I have been striving to make healthy choices whenever possible. That includes having #NoExcuses and getting in exercise right here in my city when I can’t get to the gym, choosing water over soda and being way more mindful of what I am putting into my body. Sometimes it’s a real struggle and I don’t want to get up off the couch to get a workout in but I push my boundaries and do it anyway. A huge reason I push myself is because I like rewards, I’ve been using the BR for healthy choices section of the Walgreens Mobile app for a little over a month now and I love it. I’m always using my Walgreens app which I’ve connected to my balance rewards card! Remember when we chatted about their Paperless Coupons? I was excited that there was so much more inside this app. You can do so much with the Balance Rewards for healthy choices section and you get rewarded which makes it just a little bit easier to get up off the couch, am I right?
Walgreens is rewarding me for living a healthy life. Your reward points equate to dollars at Walgreens so it’s like you’re being paid to exercise. I like it, I like it a lot! Who wouldn’t? Rewards for making healthy choices is pretty amazing. A cool thing about it is if you already use another fitness tracker or app you can connect it to your Balance Rewards for healthy choices account and automatically gain 250 points. You get an additional 20 points for each activity you track like miles ran, your weight, and more! For me, this is ideal because I don’t always have a scheduled time to hit up a gym so most of my exercise happens outdoors around our home or in my living room. The points I gain for tracking these activities is the push I need on some days to get it done. In addition to our #NoExcuses fitness challenge I have been doing a few 30 Day challenges that we came up which makes staying fit in my city easy. You can literally walk right outside and do this, do it at the park, or in your living room. Get moving and get healthy! Even if you get in 10 minutes of exercise, you still lapped everyone on the couch and earn points once you track it in the app or online.
Taylor and I created this 30 Day Challenge for our challenge and as of writing this I am currently on Day 27, 25 Push Ups is something I never in a million years thought I’d be able to accomplish but I am pushing through. A 30 Day challenge is a great way to get moving and get your strength built up. Like I said, even with no access to a gym you can still get fit. It’s your journey and the first step will be the hardest but you can totally do it. It’s a super easy set-up. You go ahead and download the app and then register with your #BalanceRewards card and receive points as soon as you start tracking. I showed you a little about the Clipless Coupons within this app before and now if you look on the bottom left you see “BR for healthy choices” that’s what it will look like once you get all set up and an easy click of the button to start earning and saving! If my love for Walgreens wasn’t at a full cup before it sure is now!
This is what the ‘inside’ of your app will look like when you click through. You can see that there is a place for steps, lbs, mmHg, mg/dL, hours, and SpO2 which can all be manually entered within the app or if you have your own fitness tracker or fitness app like Run Keeper you can connect those so your activities will automatically update within the app for you.
A few ways that I have been using the app are connecting my fitness tracker for any runs and manually entering walks, elliptical training or strength training (like the push ups) by clicking on “Add Activity”. You have the ability to name it, add the date, distance, duration, and intensity. You can also check off how you felt after the workout and leave any notes that you want. I also manually enter my weight and sleep. Goals are a fun thing to put into the app, you get points for completing them. This is how I have been planning out my days for exercise, with each goal ending with points to help me save at Walgreens. It’s a win-win for everyone! I have been switching up my exercise and rotating between walks, elliptical, biking and some strength training. I try my best to get up and get moving for at least 60 minutes each day, and the rewards definitely help me to get motivated. I wanted to share another of our 30 Day Challenges with you that I did last month and will be doing this month as well.
You can totally stay fit in your city and pretty much anywhere when you have these types of exercises in your arsenal. You can do it just about anywhere and it’s not shocking for me to be on our lawn completing my challenges and getting stuff done. I want my rewards on a daily basis!
