It’s no secret that my love of DIY Beauty has been growing for years. There is just something about being able to make a product in the comfort of my own kitchen that sends thrills through me. It’s the perfect gift for myself to relieve the stressful times of the holiday hustle and bustle. More often than not you can open up your pantry cabinets and find all of the ingredients you need to make a facial scrub or mask with and it’s both relaxing and inexpensive. A facial scrub is quite easy to put together and takes absolutely no time at all, you can have it whipped up in as little as ten minutes provided your have the right ingredients. I love using honey for my skincare so I figured we could start there!
For this easy DIY Facial scrub I chose to go with some pretty awesome ingredients. Don Victor Honey, Don Victor Olive Oil, and regular ol’ oatmeal. Honey has so many skin-saving properties so it’s something I always love using in my skincare routine. From healing acne to unclogging your pores to make them appear larger, honey is awesome for our skin. Filled with antioxidants that help slow down signs of aging, it’s a must have in this scrub. Olive oil is a nice bonus in any DIY facial scrub because it’s super moisturizing. Oatmeal is chock full of amino acids which can be absorbed into your skin to help heal blemishes and refresh sun-damaged skin. On it’s own oatmeal isn’t super moisturizing to your skin but when use in combination with honey and olive oil it can help give your skin that fresh faced glowing look.
I already add honey to my tea, my morning oatmeal and sometimes my toast so I felt like it was only natural that I put it in my face masks too, right? I’m especially impressed with the Don Victor Honey because you can see the gorgeous honeycomb right inside of the pretty little jar. Having the honeycomb right inside of the jar made me feel like I was really getting the best ingredients for my scrub. This is a premium quality honey with superior taste at an affordable price making it the perfect addition to your face mask.
I measured out 1 tablespoon of the Don Victor Honey and 1 tablespoon of my oatmeal and I put them on separate plates so they honey wouldn’t stick to the oatmeal just yet, the olive oil is really key in this facial mask and you don’t want to start mixing them until you’re ready to drizzle your olive oil. Right before I’m ready for the olive oil I go ahead and start to pour the honey over my oatmeal.
Now that the honey is added, before we begin to mix we want to add our olive oil. The olive oil is going to make it quite easy to mix so you still get a gritty scrub to really work into your skin. You want to drizzle on the equivalent of about one teaspoon of the Don Victor Olive Oil.
Once all of your ingredient have been added together just grab a small spoon and instead of physically “mixing” it like you would a cake batter, I use the bottom of the spoon to gently press the ingredients together until they’re well mixed. This will help it from getting too clumpy and it will stay in a paste like consistency making for easy application.
Once your have your mixture to a consistency that you enjoy, you’re ready to apply. Rub the mixture on your face going in circular motions start from the center of your face and moving outward to promote firmer skin. I usually scrub for around a minute and then rinse with luke warm tap water. You will LOVE the glowing look of your skin and just how moisturized it feels after this scrub.
As a little bonus, for anyone who loves honey as much as I do. The Don Victor Whipped Honey line is absolutely amazing. I have been spreading either the Cocoa or the Caramel on my morning toast and my husband has been loving the Cinnamon to dip crackers into.
To make it easy for you, the ingredients used in the facial scrub and the whipped honey can all be found in the Hispanic aisle at your local Walmart. Don Victor Honey makes the perfect gift for yourself or a friend to throw together this inexpensive DIY facial scrub. The whipped honey line is new and may not be in your store as of yet, check your local listings to find out. Nice scrub I would definitely try it! Thanks for your participation on this shop #client
I love honey in my skin care products!! A friend of mine makes a Honey, Lavender, Oatmeal, Chamomile soap that has been working wonders! I’m gonna have to talk to her about adding a honey scrub to her product line 🙂
Just a suggestion….it really works better if you grind the oatmeal. The whole oats end up absorbing most of the goodies and doesn’t transfer as much to the skin. The ground meal is more “pore size” and is able to get more of the pore cleansing/purifying done. I prefer a coffee grinder to a food process for this, just because it gives a finer grind to the oats.
I cannot wait to try this!
Awesome way to spend me time! #turnituptuesdays
