CK Mondavi Wines DIY Red Wine Facial

I know for a fact that I have told you all before who much of an affinity I have for not only a good deal but also a great bottle of wine. I’m not a huge beer girl so it’s always been wine for me. Nothing like coming home after a long day and relaxing on the couch with a good bottle of wine and some trashy reality TV. All of that said, it should come as no surprise to you that at any given time there are quite a few bottles of wine in my home. A new favorite of mine has been CK Mondavi wines. Have you heard of them? They’ve been family owned for 70 years and they’re the first and only made in USA winery! Cool, right?

My husband loves red wine and I usually prefer white so we are definitely opposites attracting in all forms. CK Mondavi’s Cabernet Sauvignon was something my husband raved about so I had to give it a try, as someone who prefers white, I have to say that this red was delicious. A classically deep red color and is rich with cherry and blackberry flavors that are perfectly balanced with a hint of oak and a long fruit finish. The Chardonnay is absolutely amazing and one of my absolute favorites. It’s medium-bodied with a hint of oak. Aromas of lemon and citrus combined with flavors of apple and pear lead to a delightfully crisp finish. The Merlot, my husbands fave, is medium-bodied with a hint of oak and flavors of cherries and plums. It is rich in the mouth and ends in a soft fruit filled finish.

Every once in awhile I like to try my hand at some fancy spa-like facials. I went to a spa over the summer where I was able to get a red wine facial and I was in love with it. My skin felt so smooth and firm. So with all that wine sometimes we tend to have a tiny bit left over and I have started using the red wine leftovers in some DIY Red Wine Facials. I think I’ve perfected it and I wanted to share!

It’s so easy to make, just be sure to keep about 2 tablespoons of your red wine after you’ve enjoyed the bottle. I went with the Merlot, after a bit of research it seemed like the merlot would have the best benefits inside of a mask. Also, don’t worry about it staining, you’re mixing it well enough that it’s not going to stain your face. Promise.

So ingredients wise you’re going to want red wine, definitely check out the CK Mondavi Merlot, it was perfect with dinner and perfect in our mask! You’ll want to grab yogurt, honey and an egg white. I mixed it up a bit too much I think the first few times and it was super runny, so I went with a thicker greek yogurt and mixed gently and it was almost lotion like! Apply to your face and leave on for about 5 minutes while you sip some wine and rinse with luke warm water. What’s super fun about a red wine mask is that it’s chock full of antioxidants and anti-aging properties. If you’re skin is feeling blehhhh, this is for you! Check out the recipe!

I have heard of wine for facials. I am definitely doing this! 😀 CK Mondavi looks like they’ve updated their labels?? Or is it just me lol. I can’t remember if I’ve tried their Cabernet, but it sounds delish. I am a red lover, and you need to jump on the red bandwagon! There is so much research into how good it is for you! Including for you face haha 😀

How long would this last in the fridge? I have quite a (disproportionately) small face so find most face masks last me 2-3 uses and the quantities of this recipe sound like it would make quite a lot.

More than a third (30,000) of the women intentionally killed in 2017 were killed by their current or former intimate partner ̶ someone they would normally expect to trust.⁣

🔟 Creating this community has been one of my favorite things about life. What will you find here?! Easy beauty tips and tutorials, attainable fashion, endless Amazon finds, but also the UNCOMFORTABLE stuff: pap smears, depression, anxiety, the effects my husbands addiction had on our marriage, eating disorders, struggles with fertility, body acceptance, and being comfortable in your own skin. I try to keep it as real as humanly possible. Being so vulnerable all of the time isn’t the easiest thing but if it helps just one person feel less alone, I’m good! ⠀⁣

Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thin Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. ⁣
⁣
We’re about two hit two years since Jim entered rehab and I’m forever proud of the changes he made and the man he has become⁣
⁣
For the person reading this who loves an addict. It’s changed you, I know. It made you a little harder to reach. It made getting out a bed a little rough. It’s isolated you from groups of friends. Your hearts a little more closed off then it once was. Your trust is a little bit broken. You’ve felt more alone then you ever have. You’ve felt judged. You’ve felt betrayed. You’ve felt at fault.⁣
⁣
Whether you’re past it or still in the trenches. I want you to know some things. ⁣
⁣
I need you to know that it’s not your fault. I need you to know that you could not have done anything differently. I need you to know that you can’t cure it. You didn’t cause it. And you can’t control it. ⁣
⁣
Most of all I need you to know that it gets better. I need you to know that it’s ok to feel happiness again. It’s ok to put yourself first. It’s ok to take care of your. ⁣
⁣
And you’re not alone. ⁣
⁣
I promise you that there’s a light on this side of the tunnel just waiting for you to walk through. And that light doesn’t mean it’s over, it’s just there to guide you. Because every day could be a battle. ⁣
⁣
I stayed for the battle. But that’s not the only way. If you need to leave that’s okay too. Either way. You have to get to that light. ⁣
⁣
Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Go to a meeting yourself. Grab a book (Co-Dependent No More, was helpful for me) listen to a podcast. Get yourself a village. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF⁣
