Before you click away and think that I am a crazy person trying to get you to get all dressed up to go workout, hear me out? I am not the girl who is going to the gym with full faced makeup on only to work up a sweat and have it melt away and look crazy. In fact, most days I go wearing nothing at all, which is what I would recommend if you can get away with it, because seriously most makeup is not going to mix with a workout. Sometimes, I just can’t help it though if I need to go mid-day and have to be somewhere else immediately after and I can’t go home to freshen up first or if I feel I need a little bit of coverage on crazy redness days, I will grab some tried and true products. You want to make sure the products you pick are going to work for you and not against you. Nobody wants to have their makeup running down their face mid treadmill workout, right?

Feel like you need a little bit of extra coverage at the gym? Check out these gym-approved beauty products!

I am not a stranger to redness & there are definitely days where I don’t want to go to the gym bare faced. The minute I hop on the treadmill I almost instantly get flushed so add that to my already red face and it’s just not fun for me. Also if I’m working pre-workout and have to get back to it without being able to get freshened up I find myself in that same situation, I need a little something. On those days I will opt for a light BB cream or tinted moisturizer. Any sort of foundation is going to melt right away once you get really into that workout so just don’t bother. It’s probably going to clog your pores and even cause a breakout, so let your skin breathe and opt for something light and fresh to give you that bit of coverage you’re wanting. I love the Maybelline Dream BB & Nars Tinted Moisturizer for gym days. If that’s not enough coverage for you, I know my friend always looks for something to add to it because she gets a few breakouts and isn’t comfortable going barefaced, I’d grab a waterproof concealer and just use a light hand to cover up any breakouts, spots or blemishes. A favorite of mine is the Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer, it will definitely stay in place even as you get your sweat on.

I have this thing, I am completely fine (most days) if I leave the house without makeup but for whatever reason I always wear mascara, no matter what. So if you want to brighten up your eyes a bit for the gym, skip the shadow because we know that is going to melt away and just rock some waterproof mascara like the Maybelline Volum’ Express and you will be good to go. Brows are something else you may want to throw into your routine and I absolutely recommend the waterproof Build-A-Brow, it’s amazing!

When in it comes to the lips, you’d be hard pressed to find a day where I would wear a lipstick or gloss to go workout. I will almost always grab a balm because I have unusually dry lips and it’s just easiest. I love the medicated Dr. Rescue Babylips, if you want some color I would still grab a balm but just make it tinted like this one from Babylips Electro collection! Speaking of color, I like to grab a stain for my cheeks to give me a bit of color. I’m very pale and sometimes that can show as sickly so I want a little bit of a natural flush (on non-red) days and I stay away from powders or creams that will melt away and opt for a stain like Tarte’s Cheek Stain.

Like I’ve mentioned I pick products that are waterproof and light so I won’t have to worry about them melting off but my biggest gym-approved beauty product pick is definitely a setting spray, just for some added stay in place insurance. I grab for the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray. If all else fails and your makeup starts running away on you, always carry some remover wipes to handle life’s little mishaps and some Crazy Beautiful Wipes to quickly freshen up if you’re heading back to the office!

No access to a gym? That’s ok, check out these 50+ At-Home Workouts and run through them this year! Do you go fresh faced, full faced or barely there at the gym? Let me know in the comments below!

I don’t wear makeup when working out also, but I love to use a good face wipe afterwards! The LA Fresh are great ones.

I got the setting spray recently and must say I do love it! Brilliant post, it’s nice to know I don’t have to go bare faced when I’m just not in the no make up mood 🙂

This is great! I am totally the girl that wears full on makeup to the gym! Ok … not for days I’m doing a cray cray workout that I will sweat it all off. LOL. But I usually hit the gym right before work, so I get ready and then I work out. Don’t question my methods. I am who I am. Great post for those days! Thanks!

Great ideas to use. I’m usually coming from somewhere or going somewhere so I need to have a light touch of makeup too. I’m sorry I forgot wipes on my list.

I totally missed Build-A-Brow! It’s easily the best brow product for a workout.

I love a good brow recommend recommendation! One thing I swear by at the gym is natural deodorant by Purabela. It smells like a spa and lasts all day! Purabela.com

I usually rock a bare face at the gym but have had some pretty gnarly pimples that are too noticeable lately. I dab on revlon colorstay concealer just on those spots but nothing else except some cereve moisturizer.
