I have an affinity for a good cocktail. The mojito is one of my favorites. I was brainstorming ideas to give you a cocktail for St. Patricks day and I was going to switch out the rum in a classic mojito and replace it with irish whiskey and then I realized… I am a shameful Irish gal and was all out of Jameson. SO I’m bringing you a Kentucky Mango Mojito. It’s super smoooooth and dangerously delicious, I promise.
I suppose to make it a legit mojito I should have added some mint but I didn’t have that either or the energy to go grab some. I’m definitely the gal who just throws darts at the wall and hopes they stick. This definitely sticks. It couldn’t have turned out any better. I lurveeeee it. I did add in a little bit of honey to give you an extra sweet surprise, that counts for something, right?
One of my mixers is from a line of low carb, low sugar and low calorie fruit drinks called LO Fruit Beverage. I used the Mango Mojito drink as the base of the entire cocktail and honestly I think without this factor this drink would be a fail, for sure. LO Real Fruit Juice Blend Beverage is a delicious, low glycemic juice alternative made with premium ingredients and sweetened with Organic Blue Agave and Stevia extract. No preservatives, no artificial ingredients or sweeteners.
And it clearly wouldn’t be a mojito without some fresh lime juice. The hint of shazam(is that a word?) that lime juice gives a cocktail is always a must have. This isn’t your average mojito and we have veered way off course but you know that’s how we roll. We like to challenge the norm and give you a super fun spin on the original. Remember our Raspberry Mojito? You’re sure to love that too.
I also went with ginger ale over club soda because I like the taste it gives off when paired with whiskey. It’s just to die for. Of course, my favorite piece of Kentucky. The bourbon. Bulleit Bourbon is made with small-batch techniques inspired by those pioneered by Augustus Bulleit over 150 years ago. Only ingredients of the very highest quality are used. The subtlety and complexity of Bulleit Bourbon come from its unique blend of rye, corn, and barley malt, along with special strains of yeast and pure Kentucky limestone filtered water. Due to its especially high rye content, Bulleit Bourbon has a bold, spicy character with a finish that’s distinctively clean and smooth. It just made this drink a little piece of heaven.
Enough of my rambling! Check out the recipe!
- 1 oz LO Mango Mojito Juice
- 1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 1 oz Bulleit Bourbon
- 1/4 oz Honey
- 2 oz Ginger Ale
- Pour your LO Mango Mojito Juice in your glass
- Add your honey to the glass
- In a shaker, mix your lime juice bourbon, and ginger ale with ice.
- Pour over ice or without
- Enjoy
