Beachy Waves Tutorial

Summer is well on its way and my absolute favorite part of the season is the ability to play with messier hair-do’s! Beachy waves are a longtime favorite of mine and it’s totally possible to pull off the look even if you’re not lucky enough to be laying on the beach every day. As you all know I’ve got stick straight, baby fine, volume-less hair. I used to think it was tough to get beachy waves but I am here to tell you that it’s super easy and actually pretty quick. Are you ready for big beachy waves? I am.

Quick and Easy Beachy Waves Tutorial

You don’t need much in terms of products and tools. A blow dryer, volumizing spray, texturizing spray, and a deep waver. You can grab all of the above at Sally Beauty and you’re good to go.

Quick and Easy Beachy Waves Tutorial

You’re going to start with clean hair so just out of the shower. The actual “process” doesn’t start until your hair is about 80% dry. I usually get out of the shower, wrap my hair in a towel and go ahead and do my skincare and makeup while I wait for it to air dry. Once your hair is just a tiny bit damp, you’re going to get started.

Quick and Easy Beachy Waves Tutorial

You’ll want something that’s going to thicken up your hair and build the volume. This heat activated thickening spray from the Ion Volume Solutions line is the perfect accompaniment for your beachy waves. It’s going to add some texture and give you the little bit of oomph you’ll need to ensure the waves are big and voluminous. Spray this directly onto your roots.

Flip your hair upside down and blow dry. It helps to do this with your hair flipped because it will let the heat activated spray do its job and allow your hair to get some volume and not lie flat against your head.

IMG_8420

Now that your hair is completely dry and you’ve got a bit of volume going on you’re ready to get to those beachy waves. I’ve never been able to “hold a curl” on my own so for beachy waves, I need a bit of help. That’s where the Hot Shot Tools Nano Ceramic Deep Waver comes in. It’s life changing.

IMG_8430

I separate my hair into only two sections, top and bottom. If you have longer hair you will probably separate into four sections: top, bottom, and two sides. Then just take your deep waver and go all the way around your head.

IMG_8444

You’re left with a head full of gorgeous, big, beachy waves. It’s so easy. For my hair the wave process takes me about 8 minutes total. In order to get it to stay voluminous and not have the curls fall throughout the day, you’re going to want to stay away from traditional hairspray especially if your have an issue holding a curl. Hairspray weighs the hair down so I go with something a bit different.

IMG_8433

I use the Beyond the Zone Vamped Up Dry Texture Hairspray. This creates a sexy, tousled look with volume. This texture teaser revives limp styles, preps for updos and absorbs oil to provide a mattified finish. This is the perfect finisher for your beachy waves. The best part is it also acts as a dry shampoo, so if you want to rock this hairstyle for more than a day, just spray this on and run your fingers through your hair for perfect beachy waves on day two and three hair.

IMG_8467

Spring is here and summer is right around the corner, which means beachy waves! This will be the perfect style to rock all Summer long. Gorgeous beachy waves with lots of volume and texture!

In 2019, Turkey had nearly 500 RECORDED femicides. ⁣

The Global Burden of Armed Violence 2014 database shows that between 2007 and 2012, on average, 60,000 women were killed violently around the world. ⁣

A total of 87,000 women were intentionally killed in 2017. More than half of them (58 per cent) ̶ 50,000 ̶ were killed by intimate partners or family members, meaning that 137 women across the world are killed by a member of their own family every day. More than a third (30,000) of the women intentionally killed in 2017 were killed by their current or former intimate partner ̶ someone they would normally expect to trust.⁣

#WomenSupportingWomen looks a lot like putting in work to actively combat and also recognize violence against women. It looks like voting for political figures who don’t want to take the rights of women away. It looks like donating to causes that actively fight for these women. ⁣

🔟 Creating this community has been one of my favorite things about life. What will you find here?! Easy beauty tips and tutorials, attainable fashion, endless Amazon finds, but also the UNCOMFORTABLE stuff: pap smears, depression, anxiety, the effects my husbands addiction had on our marriage, eating disorders, struggles with fertility, body acceptance, and being comfortable in your own skin. I try to keep it as real as humanly possible. Being so vulnerable all of the time isn’t the easiest thing but if it helps just one person feel less alone, I’m good! ⠀⁣

Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thin Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. ⁣
⁣
We’re about two hit two years since Jim entered rehab and I’m forever proud of the changes he made and the man he has become⁣
⁣
For the person reading this who loves an addict. It’s changed you, I know. It made you a little harder to reach. It made getting out a bed a little rough. It’s isolated you from groups of friends. Your hearts a little more closed off then it once was. Your trust is a little bit broken. You’ve felt more alone then you ever have. You’ve felt judged. You’ve felt betrayed. You’ve felt at fault.⁣
⁣
Whether you’re past it or still in the trenches. I want you to know some things. ⁣
⁣
I need you to know that it’s not your fault. I need you to know that you could not have done anything differently. I need you to know that you can’t cure it. You didn’t cause it. And you can’t control it. ⁣
⁣
Most of all I need you to know that it gets better. I need you to know that it’s ok to feel happiness again. It’s ok to put yourself first. It’s ok to take care of your. ⁣
⁣
And you’re not alone. ⁣
⁣
I promise you that there’s a light on this side of the tunnel just waiting for you to walk through. And that light doesn’t mean it’s over, it’s just there to guide you. Because every day could be a battle. ⁣
⁣
I stayed for the battle. But that’s not the only way. If you need to leave that’s okay too. Either way. You have to get to that light. ⁣
⁣
Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Go to a meeting yourself. Grab a book (Co-Dependent No More, was helpful for me) listen to a podcast. Get yourself a village. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF⁣
⁣
