One of my absolute favorite things to do is organize a girls’ night in with all of my close girlfriends. It’s super fun to get the girls together and have a night to catch up on life a decompress. We each lead such busy lives that sometimes it’s hard to find the time but when we do, we look to have an adult sleepover and make it super fun. That way no one is spending tons of money, you don’t have to worry about getting all dressed up, or finding a designated driver. It’s a win-win-win with wine 😉
MOVIES – Get some of your very favorite movies together and set them out on the table. This is your chance to grab all of the classic chick flicks that your significant other may not want to watch with you. 16 Candles, The Sweetest Thing and The Notebook are some of our go-to faves!
SNACKS – Popcorn, potato chips, chocolate covered strawberries, ice cream and more. I love setting out all of our favorite snacks to enjoy.
BOARD GAMES – This maybe sounds a little cliche but we are HUGE fans of games around here. If you’ve never played What’s a DAME to Do?! you absolutely have to go and grab it for the next occasion! SO much fun.
WINE – A girls’ night in would not be complete without wine. My girlfriends and I absolutely have to have wine for our nights in. Since we all like so many different things, it’s always good to have a red and white on hand. At our most recent girls’ night, we included some absolutely fabulous Ribera y Rueda Spanish wines. They were the hit of the night.
Can we chat for a minute about how awesome these wines are? Totally. For 2000+ years, winemakers from Ribera and Rueda have cultivated what’s new and what’s next in every vineyard and vintage they produce. They’re located in northwest Spain and only about an hour away from Madrid. It has to be awesome.
Rueda Verdejos are full of bright, crisp and creative flavors. They’re of the white grape varietal and absolutely amazing. I am a huge fan of white wines so I knew this was the one I wanted to try first. I had a glass while setting up for our girls’ night in and couldn’t stop talking about it once the gals got there. I served this some of my favorite spicy cheese choices and it was absolutely perfect. The chips and queso made a nice pairing with it as well.
Once all of the girls had gotten there and we all started to settle in we went with one of our other favorite girls’ night in occurrences.
HIGH/LOW – We love to play the game high/low where we each go around the table, or the couch and say the high point of our week and the low part. It really helps each of us catch up and reconnect.
Some of the best nights have us going through more than just one bottle of wine. So it was a good thing we had the Ribera del Duero Tempranillos on hand. This is a red wine with bold, rugged and ripe flavors. We shared this over dinner, asian fusion, and it was absolutely amazing.
Ribera y Rueda wines are all about popping open a bottle for an outdoor soirée, a night on the couch or an unexpected food pairing – Ribera y Rueda wines say Sí to it all! And so do my girlfriends and I!
