24 Hours In New York City with Vanity Fair

August 4, 2015

I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Influence Central forVanity Fair. I received product samples to facilitate my review and compensation to thank me for my participation.

Here's to the women who dream, inspire, encourage, and persevere. Here's to women who do.

If you follow me anywhere from Instagram to Snapchat you already that I was on a trip to NYC and had a ton of fun.

Right now, women everywhere are doing. Women are running businesses, families and so much more. They yearn for the support and inspiration that comes from connecting with other women and celebrating their collective power.

Last week I had the honor and the absolute pleasure of going on a whirlwind trip to New York City for a little over 24 hours for the Vanity Fair Blogger Summit. Though our time together was short, I learned so much and got a little food for my soul while I was at it.

You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anyone.

The Blogger Summit for the #WomenWhoDo campaign kicked off the beginning of a 6 month ambassadorship that I’m proud to be part of with Vanity Fair. Vanity Fair went above and beyond when presenting this Summit for us, the little touches really showed me what kind of company they are and how much they truly care. Wednesday morning started off with checking in at the absolutely stunning Refinery Hotel in the heart of New York City’s garment district, right off of 5th Avenue in the city that never sleeps is one of my “happy places” and as a city girl, it just feels like home.

Already loving the vibe at the @refineryhotel! Comfy beds and hardwood floors are my jam! Thanks for the goodies @shopvanityfair @influencecentral #womenwhodo #HHTravel #ic #ABMtravelbug #nyc #travel

Each of the 25 women who will be part of this Vanity Fair Women Who Do program were greeted with the most thoughtful gift bag welcoming us to the city and the summit. For almost 100 years, Vanity Fair has been changing the face of lingerie. Leading edge fashion paired with a brand who really cares about their consumer is the perfect powerhouse duo. They proved this in each aspect of the summit. I started the day walking around the city for a bit and did some shopping before heading back to the hotel to get ready for the dinner that Vanity Fair had planned. We had the pleasure of eating at the famed ABC Kitchen and everything was amazing. The ambiance was super cool and the whole place had a very NYC vibe to it. If you visit, you have to try the fried chicken. It doesn’t get any better. So much yum.

Not only was dinner absolutely delicious but we also got some food for our soul. It’s at dinner where each of us bloggers were given our first look at the Women Who Do campaign, a powerfully uplifting campaign dedicated to praising and celebrating everyday triumphs of women everywhere. And praise we did, as part of our introductions we shared a woman who inspired us. I’m usually not a social crier but these women all had such touching stories. It made me that much more excited to be part of this ambassadorship and a brand who is excited to inspire women to support, encourage and celebrate each other. I live by the statement that your vibe attracts your tribe and I’m happy to be part of the tribe Vanity Fair has put together. The night was full of laughter and endless chatter. New friends were made and connections that will last a lifetime.

Vanity Fair Blogger Summit

The following day was spent learning all about this brand. It was literally Bra 101. And while I wear a bra everyday, can I just tell you that there are some things that I had no idea even mattered. JoAnna Beddingfield, VP of Brand Management for Vanity Fair, gave us an in depth look at the products and who the brand is today and how they got there. Vanity Fair prides themselves on lifting women up and I was touched especially in a world where as women we are so often torn down. I really enjoyed this session. I wanted to share a few of the key points about the brand and their product that I took away from the day, of course in a few weeks I will be jumping in depth into the products but I wanted to give y’all an introduction.

  • Vanity Fair lingerie has been the brand that women look to for undeniable support, lift and elegance.
  • Offering feminine and beautiful lingerie that is also on-trend and completely functional.
  • Super affordable, usually retailing around $40. Available at Sears, Macy’s, JC Penney and Kohls.
  • Band sizes 34-44 and cup sizes B-DDD.
  • 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong size bra (Insert my name here!)
  • You should be buying 3-5 bras a year.

Vanity Fair Blogger Summit

After learning all about the product and the people behind it we went over to Macy’s for our very own fitting. Did you know that 80% of women have no idea if they’re wearing the correct sized bra? I was one of those women and can I just tell you that the bra I had on when I went in for my fitting was at least 3 sizes off what I actually should have been wearing and I had no clue. When is the last time you got fitted? I barely remember so I wasn’t all that surprised that I had been buying the wrong size for years. I highly recommend getting yourself a fitting, I don’t know how I lived before putting this bra on. Vanity Fair made it possible for all of us to get fitted and gifted us with some bras to take home.

I went with the Beauty Back with Lace, Full Figure and without getting too over the top, this bra is everything that a bra should be. It’s like magic. I didn’t even have that “Ahh” I just took my bra off moment at the end of the night because it had been so comfortable I hadn’t even realized it was on. All around smoothing and shaping makes this the perfect bra for any occasion, I know it will be my new go-to. It’s available in eight on-trend colors and sizes range from 36-42 C/D/DD.

I can’t wait to continue to try these products and tell you all about them. For the next 6 months I’ll be sharing all things Vanity Fair, the products I’ve been trying, tips and tricks and even their partnership with Dress For Success. Get excited and stay tuned for more!

To say that you didn’t have that, “Ahh!” moment after taking off your bra for the day is pretty much the highest praise you can give a bra. Well done, Vanity Fair!

More than a third (30,000) of the women intentionally killed in 2017 were killed by their current or former intimate partner ̶ someone they would normally expect to trust.⁣

🔟 Creating this community has been one of my favorite things about life. What will you find here?! Easy beauty tips and tutorials, attainable fashion, endless Amazon finds, but also the UNCOMFORTABLE stuff: pap smears, depression, anxiety, the effects my husbands addiction had on our marriage, eating disorders, struggles with fertility, body acceptance, and being comfortable in your own skin. I try to keep it as real as humanly possible. Being so vulnerable all of the time isn’t the easiest thing but if it helps just one person feel less alone, I’m good! ⠀⁣

Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thin Loving an addict is one of if not the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. ⁣
⁣
We’re about two hit two years since Jim entered rehab and I’m forever proud of the changes he made and the man he has become⁣
⁣
For the person reading this who loves an addict. It’s changed you, I know. It made you a little harder to reach. It made getting out a bed a little rough. It’s isolated you from groups of friends. Your hearts a little more closed off then it once was. Your trust is a little bit broken. You’ve felt more alone then you ever have. You’ve felt judged. You’ve felt betrayed. You’ve felt at fault.⁣
⁣
Whether you’re past it or still in the trenches. I want you to know some things. ⁣
⁣
I need you to know that it’s not your fault. I need you to know that you could not have done anything differently. I need you to know that you can’t cure it. You didn’t cause it. And you can’t control it. ⁣
⁣
Most of all I need you to know that it gets better. I need you to know that it’s ok to feel happiness again. It’s ok to put yourself first. It’s ok to take care of your. ⁣
⁣
And you’re not alone. ⁣
⁣
I promise you that there’s a light on this side of the tunnel just waiting for you to walk through. And that light doesn’t mean it’s over, it’s just there to guide you. Because every day could be a battle. ⁣
⁣
I stayed for the battle. But that’s not the only way. If you need to leave that’s okay too. Either way. You have to get to that light. ⁣
⁣
Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Go to a meeting yourself. Grab a book (Co-Dependent No More, was helpful for me) listen to a podcast. Get yourself a village. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF⁣
⁣
