We LOVE us some DIY Beauty around these parts! I am literally obsessed with trying new things that I can make at home from face masks, to nail polish remover jars, makeup brush holders, seriously anything. If there is one thing I hate, it’s spending money on things I can do myself at home. In the world of hair masks, I hate to spend money on a bottle or jar of one particular product. I don’t like my hair to get “used” to any one product for an extended period of time, I feel like it loses it’s purpose. Though don’t get me wrong, I LOVE me some store bought hair products too. I just like to try new things. I researched a lot over the years and have found so many different “at-home” hair masks. This way, you just whip it up and use it once and the next time you can try something new with products that you have at your house instead of spending an obscene amount of money on something that may or may not even work for your hair. Today I am going to share three of my FAVORITE masks that I rotate throughout the month and send you over to check out Karly’s DIY Hair Treatment too!
Dry & Damaged DIY Hair Mask
This mask is great for anyone with dry and damaged hair. It’s instantly moisturizing. The measurements for this mask are based on someone with shoulder length hair so for longer hair I would double the ingredients.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoon White Vinegar
- 1 Egg
DIRECTIONS
- Mix well
- Apply generously to dry hair
- Let sit for 15-20 minutes
- Shampoo & Conditioner hair as normal
DIY Banana Hair Mask
This hair mask is great for when you need a little extra moisture and I have also found that it helps cut down on frizziness. I love using this in the summer, as well as after I have dyed my hair for some added moisture. It also leaves your hair smelling amazing!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 Banana
- 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
- 3 Spoonfuls of Mayonnaise
DIRECTIONS
- Mix well
- Apply to dry hair generously, concentrating on the root
- Leave mask on hair for 30 minutes
- Shampoo normally
DIY Deep Conditioning Mask
This mask works as a deep conditioner and is probably my favorite of the three. It leaves your hair feeling weightless and looking shiny and smooth.
INGREDIENTS
- 8 Strawberries
- 2 Tablespoons of mayonnaise
DIRECTIONS
- Blend well to form a cream
- Apply generously to wet hair
- Leave mask on for 15 minutes
- Shampoo as normal
