I’ve been on my own Journey To Healthy for quite some time. This journey isn’t one that can be taken alone. You need supportive people and products to get there. The people come in when you’re not feeling so great. As a blogger, it’s kind of tough on the internet some days and body shaming tends to run rampant. People say some of the most hurtful things when they can hide behind a computer screen. It’s really easy to let someone’s empty words get the best of your journey. Knock you down a peg or two. Leave you feeling sad and not wanting to workout or do anything really. People and products are what get me through this journey of mine.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite things that along with my friends and husband keep me happy on his journey to healthy. A pick me up, a good meal, and things that are great for women’s health in general.
First up, we have a delicious treat. I like to start with food. Being hangry isn’t good for anyone, right? The Healthy Choice Power Bowls are super delish. Healthy Choice Power Bowls are made with a combination of nutrient-dense vegetables, proteins and whole grains catering to people living an active lifestyle. Meals are inspired by Korean, Cuban and Latin cuisines and are made in new bowls made of plant-based fiber instead of plastic. The bowl itself was super cool, I really liked that it wasn’t flimsy plastic and that I could eat straight from the bowl without having to re-plate it my quick and easy lunch.
I tried out the Adobo Chicken Bowl and I was impressed. This is reminiscent of my favorite Latin restaurant. It’s full of all natural chicken breast and veggies served over brown & red rice, red quinoa and black barley. Add in a guajillo chili sauce topped with roasted pepitas. It’s quick and easy to make, fits right into my days which tend to be pretty busy. The flavors are bold, it tastes like any fresh meal that would take me over an hour to make.
Did you know that Healthy Choice is the only major brand in its category that can call 100 percent of its products “healthy” as approved by the FDA? That makes it a perfect addition to my journey to healthy. These frozen meal power bowls are great if you’re looking to add fiber into your diet as well.
Next up we have something that I had been wanting to try forever. A fun little pick me up that is so cool. The 23andMe DNA test! Basically, you can take the DNA test and see how your DNA breaks out across 31 populations worldwide with this ancestry kit. You can see where your ancestors lived 500 years ago, that’s amazing to me. I am so intrigued. I had been researching for awhile and every direction pointed me towards the 23andMe DNA test.
How does it work? Provide your saliva sample from home. Mail it back to their lab in the same kit it came in- the postage is prepaid. It’s simple. I can’t wait to find out my results!
I’m really excited to see the percentage breakdown by region, including eastern Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and more. The DNA test is available for $20 OFF through 5/14. It’s the perfect time to grab one.
Next up is something that I feel like no one ever talks about when they talk about women’s health. Toothpaste, y’all. Something you use daily, multiple times a day even. I am all about the health inside of my mouth. And it’s really difficult to find a Toothpaste that can do everything well but guys, we’ve found it.
ARM & HAMMER™ Peroxicare™ toothpaste helps maintain healthy gums by cleaning deep between teeth and along the gum line with the gentle power of Baking Soda in ARM & HAMMER™ Peroxicare™ toothpaste. It’s the only toothpaste you can feel working! I feel like I get a deep clean every time I use it. I have trouble with a lot of toothpaste because they’re not gentle, this one is super gentle.
Lastly, but never least is the Mio SLICE Heart Rate + Activity Tracker. Featuring PAI. I’m officially obsessed with this little piece of technology.
“PAI is a scientifically-validated metric based on heart rate that tells you how much activity you need to live a longer, healthier life.* The ideal goal is to maintain a PAI score of 100 or more over a rolling 7 days, and you can do this with all types of activity, even those that don’t involve steps like biking, rowing, and fitness classes. PAI is calculated based on age, gender, resting heart rate and maximum heart rate.”
The fact that it can track more than steps is what first intrigued me about this wearable. And the Personal Activity Intelligence™(PAI) was what cemented my love for this. It’s so cool. You can download the app, PAI is supported on: iPhone 5S and above, running iOS 9 or above & Android phones running Android OS 5.0 or above. It’s also water-resistant up to 100 feet. You even get sleep analysis. And it’s comfortable to wear! You can grab yours here.
Let me know if you plan to add any of these into your own journey to healthy!
