It’s official, summer has started and what that means for most of us is that we need to update our skin care routines accordingly as the scorching heat, environmental aggressors, and humidity begins to steal our natural glow. It’s a lot easier to forget the important things in a skin care routine during the summer months because it’s so beautiful outside and you just want to go and enjoy the weather. So, I’ve created these tips and one rockstar hydrating, anti-aging product to share for even the quickest of routines.
If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that we do a Dry Skin Diary series where I test out and review products for those of us with dry skin, the rockstar product we are going to be chatting about today is from the Olay Regenerist line, It’s the Olay Micro-Sculpting Cream. It’s not only an anti-aging cream but it’s also a hydrating powerhouse, which lends itself perfectly to our quest for summer skin care. Both the product and skin care tips I’m sharing today are for any skin type though so you can easily fit it into your routine.
1|| HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!
Make water your best friend. Seriously, do it! Getting in that daily recommendation of water is an integral part of a summer skin care routine. Not only will water help you to feel fresh during the hot months but it will keep your skin hydrated. Hydrated skin will appear more plump and radiant, so you look fresh as well. When your skin is dry and dehydrated, you tend to look tired, older and dull. You could also opt for foods that have a high water concentration during the summer months like watermelon and berries to keep yourself looking and feeling fresh.
2|| LESS REALLY IS MORE
When it comes to makeup during the summer months, reach for a BB Cream or tinted moisturizer instead of a heavy foundation. Multi-task with a cheek and lip tint to give you a nice natural glow, skip the eyeshadow and just use some waterproof mascara to give your eyes that super awake look. Of course, don’t forget your SPF.
3|| SMOOTH SURFACES
Gently exfoliate your skin. Use a light scrub or your favorite cleansing brush to rid your skin of dead skin cells and clean out your pores. This is going to allow you to have a gorgeous all over healthy glow to your skin. Going in with the right product after you exfoliate is an integral part of this routine as well.
4|| FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT
I cannot stress this enough, if you’re craving that sun-kissed glow, fake it. If a weekly airbrush tanning session isn’t in the cards, pick up a sunless tanning lotion at the local drugstore and DIY your own sun-kissed glow at home. Grab a matte bronzer to warm up your face without sitting in the sun for hours. SPF is super important under the scorching sun in the summertime, without it, you’re basically cashing in a one-way ticket to dull, dehydrated, and older looking skin. Fake it until you make it, I promise you will thank me later.
Anti-aging and hydration go hand in hand. Washing your face with a gentle cleanser and cool water will refresh your skin and prepare it for your anti-aging skin care products. Hydration is one of the key benefits for younger women seeking preventative anti-aging measures.
6|| KISS YOUR WRINKLES GOODBYE
All of these summertime aggressors can lead to wrinkles and that’s just something that we have no time for, am I right? This is where our preventative measures come in. You want an anti-aging cream that is packed with hydration to fight the signs of aging and keep your skin looking plump and firm 24/7. An independent test by the Good Housekeeping Institute concluded that Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream outperforms 10 top prestige creams, including one with a $440 price tag. That’s why I’ve made it a daily part of my summer skin care routine, coming in at $26 you best believe I’m going to reach for something that actually works instead of shelling out $400+ on a cream that may or may not work.
I’m a self-proclaimed beauty junkie and I have tried it all. From super high-end, crazy expensive anti-aging creams to drugstore options. And you do not, I repeat, do not have to spend the big bucks to achieve beautiful skin. Like I said earlier, the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is a moisturizing powerhouse, and my bar is set super high as someone who suffers from dry skin year-round.
The Good Housekeeping Institute’s Beauty Lab conducted clinical and blinded consumer studies, where scientists collected more than 10,000 hydration measurements and Olay rose to the top.
- FAST-ACTING: At the three-hour mark, Olay moisturized 400% better than a cream nearly 18 times its price and beat all other products tested.
- LONG-LASTING HYDRATION: Olay increased moisture by 50% on average over a 24-hour period.
- LIGHTWEIGHT TEXTURE: In blind comparisons, consumers preferred Olay 80% of the time over expensive creams, reporting that it felt “rich” without being heavy.
- FIRMING & PLUMPING INGREDIENTS: Formulated with powerhouse ingredients like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, Olay improved skin’s texture by 10% in four weeks.
With results like that, it’s only natural that the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is making it out of the dry skin diary and getting added directly to the holy grail bin.
You can see my results for yourself and I think you’ll notice how much plumper and firmer my skin appears in the after photo. This is absolutely because of how hydrating the Olay Micro-Sculpting Cream is, for my dry skin, it always looks its best when it’s moisturized and full of hydration. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now and I can already see that the wrinkles around my eyes are less noticeable and I don’t look as tired. My skin appears brighter and overall feels super hydrated. Usually, in the summer, I start to notice my dry patches around midday and that hasn’t been happening since I started using the Olay Micro-Sculpting Cream in my anti-aging summer skincare routine. I’m rating this a 10/10 and plan to continue to use it!
