Skincare is SO important. I’m in my mid-thirties and I can say that the one thing I wish I paid more attention to in m twenties is skincare. I have dry skin, basically, the Sahara desert is on my face, and for the last couple of months I’ve really been implementing new products and seeing what works the best with my skin. I wanted to break this down into a night and day routine so we are going with my current nightly skincare routine from the drugstore first and then I’ll do some follow-ups with my daytime routine + some high-end routines as well.
These products are all super affordable, available from the drugstore & even Amazon and if you have dry skin, keep reading. You just might find some new products to love on.
If I need to remove makeup, I love using the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water to really be the first step in a double cleanse and get all of my makeup off. This doesn’t dry me out, I put it on a little cotton pad and one job really gets the job done.
Soap & Glory is now available inside of Walgreens and Target and I could not be more excited. I saw the Vitamin C Facial Wash and the shelf and it was just so pretty so I knew I had to try it out. It’s super gentle which is nice and has no dried my skin out at all, in my opinion. I have been switching it in and out with a few others though because my esthetician said that using it daily could cause dryness but I’ve been happy so far.
I have a love-hate relationship with toners, they usually dry me out. This one from Nourish Organic is great though, it’s witch hazel + rosewater. I have to assume that the rosewater is what really keeps my skin from getting too dried out. I have a lot of redness too so this semi-calms it down to an extent. I have been testing another spray though that I’ll talk about in a different post that is likely responsible for calming my redness even more. But if you’ve got dry skin and need a good toner, this is for you.
If I’m going to do any sort of face mask, this is where I would do it in the routine. I LOVE these little masks from nugg beauty because it’s just enough for one use and they’re super affordable. The have all sorts of masks to target different skin issues as well. Their lip mask is DOPE as well.
I hate touching masks because my nails are longer and it’s just super frustrating so this dual ended pore refining brush and mask tool from elf is my jam. One side is a spatula for application and the brush side you can use for exfoliating and cleansing masks during removal.
Face oils are one of my absolute favorite things to use in my skincare routine because I am SO freaking dry. They really help lock in moisture and this one specifically, the Rose Oil Blend from Pixi, really helps calm my redness.
Pixi is seriously one of my absolute favorite brands, their skincare is just phenomenal and they keep everything super affordable. I am obsessed with the 24K Eye Elixir, the little rollerball applicator is super cooling when applying the product. I keep this in my fridge so it’s extra cold and gets rid of any puffiness around my eyes.
Another huge standout product from Pixi is the Beauty Sleep Cream, it’s thick and luxurious and really just makes my skin feel uber hydrated and stays hydrated while I sleep and really has time to sink in.
And there you have it, you really can create a complete nightly skincare routine for under $100 right from the drugstore that’s incredible especially for dry skin but other skin types as well!
